Delaware Speedway Unveils Details of New Transmission Direct Enduro Kickstart Program
April 8, 2008
John Houghton
When the Transmission Direct Enduro Series hits the track in 2008 it will have a series of new “Kickstart” programs designed to encourage participation and innovation in the popular racing class.
In recent years GM products have been the most popular choice of vehicle in Transmission Direct Enduro competition. The new Kickstart program hopes to increase the diversity of vehicles in the field by paying a $100 bonus to the top finishing non-GM racing vehicle (ie. Dodge, Ford, Toyota, Volvo etc.)
On another front, with their increasing availability, six-cylinder cars have become more accessible and cost effective but have rarely been seen in the Transmission Direct Enduro Series. The new Kickstart program hopes to change that, paying $100 to the top finishing six-cylinder vehicle.
Drivers who often find themselves finishing outside the money beyond 40th position also have reason to celebrate the Kickstart program. At the beginning of each event there will be a random position drawn outside the top 40. The position will be sealed in an envelope and revealed in victory lane at the completion of the race. That position will be paid a $100 bonus.
Creativity will also be the name of the game. For one special, “unique” car, the Delaware Speedway video team will be offering a complementary DVD of that race as a prize. There will also be pre-race recognitions for best appearing, “ugly-tough” and other unique vehicles.
The Kickstart program encourages diversity of vehicles, but also seeks to increase the range of competitors who have the opportunity to enjoy Transmission Direct Enduro racing. To reflect this aim, Delaware Speedway will also be offering a $500 bonus to any female driver who is able to WIN a Transmission Direct Enduro.
Delaware Speedway has also taken the step of increasing the racing purse by over $500 per event for 2008. When combined with the new kick start programs, approximately $5000 in prizing is potentially available at each Transmission Direct Enduro event.
The Delaware Speedway Transmission Direct Enduro remains the top Enduro in Canada, Started in 1982 as the entry level class for the speedway, for over twenty-five years the Transmission Direct Enduros have been thrilling fans with 70-120 cars competing simultaneously around the half-mile of Delaware Speedway. The Transmission Direct Enduro also hosts a special “All-Star Race” as part of the Great Canadian Race Weekend.
Don’t miss a lap of the action! The first Transmission Direct Enduro 250 of the year is on opening day, April 26. Spectator gates open at 1:00 PM with racing beginning at 2:00 PM. Pit gates open at 11:00 AM. For the first time in many years, the Transmission Direct Enduro will be playing host to a new group of cars and drivers when the Ultimate Sandblasting & Coating Chaos Cars hold their first exhibition before the event.
Sure when it comes to this youre screaming equality,

Agreed. We need more women in racing.
Remind me why we need more women in racing and what they add to the sport ?
Are Hockey, baseball, football, Mens Olympic sailing, target shooting, ski jumping etc etc etc
Pinecrest. let me start by saying that I usually agree with most of your views. The females in NASCAR was one I almost totally agreed with. I would have extended my criticism to male ride buyers as well. But this topic seems like a grumpy old man looking for something to bitch about. If this is what you have decided to comment on why not extend your criticism? Tracks have always been giving discounts to families, seniors and kids. Hell, they better abolish them. That's not fair to those single guys that go to the races. While they're at it get rid of child/senior discounts everywhere. It's all about me, screw them. No more ladies night at the bar. Why should they get in free? Almost forgot, Brighton is having a $25 car load night and I don't have a van to pile people up in. That means I will have to pay more than those with a van. I am so sick of special interest groups and 'wronged'( in their opinion) people pulling this discrimination/Charter of Rights BS in the media. Now I have to read it on a racing message board. MY GOD, what is this world coming to. Life is never fair to anyone. Get off your soap box and deal with it !! >:(
The Charter does not apply in this case Pinecrest! The charter is there for us citizens to be protected from our government and related government agencies. Is a race track a government agency?? I think not! do a little more reading on why the Charter was put into law in the first place. You will be amazed. Not that I would know because I am just a law school graduate! But really, why would you care. I think it's just something to get more women involved in the sport of racing.
As for a lawsuit being sucessful, I highly doubt it is worth the time. A judge would probably laugh and throw it out at first glance. Instead of taking the time to complain about this, maybe you should use your time more efficientfly and do a little law research before throwing out this sort of rubbish. It doesn't make you look very sophisticated.
