maybe i can clarify this (driver of 81 truck), here it goes my best, correct me if I'm wrong in places

the features are set by the finishing order of the heats, heat 1 starts at the front, and heat 2 behind them ( that's the simple part), second, the drivers starting position in the feature is also taken from the average points earned starting from about the 3rd race night forward.

what its meant to do is give a driver like myself an opportunity to get more points in the night, try to equal the Field.

Luvthetrucks has it right.
The only thing to add is - The heats are set by your previous three week finish and points position avg.
This is also the magic number that sets your position in the top 6 or 8 as set out below.

Top 6 of heat one (finish) to the front of the feature, but set by 3 week avg. plus points position.
Top 8 of heat two (finish) behind them, also set by 3 week avg and points.
Next is the remainder of heat one, than the rest of heat two. At the back is any DNF and DNS, and any rookie with no 3 week avg, or anyone that chooses to go scratch.

Correct. Thanks for the addition about the heat race starting lineup. I forgot that. I actually did the handicapping about 3 years ago for about 3/4 of a season.

so if one person is to finish in the top 3 he would start at the back (like last)???????
