If there are not enough cars for SS and too costly why don't they just drop the whole class down to Enduro where it is cheaper and take off the expensive parts.Should make for a big car count.
So a 10k car becomes a 4k car?? Don't think you'll find many doing that.
No What I'm trying to suggest is that each part or deviation of a known Stock part should be subjected to the 4 item criteria checklist to determine if they should or should not be implemented into the rules package.
Lets look at seat belts shall we?
They came stock in a car so why do we need to spend money on new ones?
Safety: yes aftermarket are immensely safer.
Durability: I think one would conclude aftermarket are much more durable
Cost: Aftermarket cost considerably more than the stock alternate
Performance: They don't really offer a performance advantage unless you consider being alive to race again is a performance advantage.
So we are mandated to invest a portion of our racing monies to the upgraded Seat belts cause dead people make crappy drivers!!! No argument here and money well spent 😉
Now screw in Ball joints should only be used for argument sake because I don't by looking at the rules believe they would conform unless they were stock on your vehicle. That being said perhaps we will go ahead and see how that fits anyway.
Safety: one could say they offer no safety advantage
Durability: Again I think there isn't much or any advantage
Cost: they certainly would cost more as you need to modify your lower accept them and extra parts are required.
Performance: I think it is safe to presume that such a deviation would provide a considerable advantage over stock if they were installed properly with proper knowledge and skill level to do so.
So if Screw in ball joints were presented as a legal change they really wouldn't score that high as the only benefit would be in the performance area and would it really help "everybody" and is it worth the cost?
Of course this is just an example of how changes "should" be dealt with and I'm only using them as an example as how things might be discussed and reviewed.

So as "some" say the top Enduros could adapt easily into SS for $ 6 K
Screw in ball joints came on dodges. And in some cases are cheaper then bolt ins, Plus, way "safer" they won't pop out of the lowers. Sunset has gone to them, because they are in deed safer, if you don't like the screww in ball joints because of different heights, then start usingg part numbers

That's the beauty and the dilemma isn't it. A few changes to the "top enduro's" and they become 10k Superstocks.
