As there has been a high demand to see them, I have attached a few of the photos I was able to rush out from the video production from the event.

I want to extend my sincere happiness that Scott was okay after the crash, and sympathy for the loss of the truck.  A great deal of effort was put into the preparation of that vehicle.  The team should be extremely proud of their efforts.

I also want to extend a note of appreciation to the Checkered Flag Media Camera Operator, Eric DeVal, whose keen eye and camera skill caught appears to have caught every single incident on the evening.  The camera operator does not usually capture very much attention, but on this evening, there were a great number of people hoping that he had the camera pointed in the right spot.  While we do not like to see wrecked racing vehicles (Checkered Flag Media would much rather be capturing winning moments than wrecking moments), we were able to capture these moment to tape thanks to Eric's skill behind the camera.

Nice! Well, not "nice" I suppose....but great shots. Give that camera guy a raise.

What I'm wondering John is this. How long did it take from the hit till Scott was out of the truck?

Unfortunately I was hauling a* with my little cam from one end of the track to the other and didnt see how he got out. I'm no speed demon but it doesn't take long to get from turn 1 to the other side of the tower...and he was well out of the car by the time I got there.

I only ask because someone must of done a lightning quick job of pulling him out of there...and some sincere kudos are well deserved to whomever that was.

Shadow Report - Delaware, July 30

So OK here's the actual report for the evening. And I offer my apologies to the Enduro guys who unfortunately get short shrift from me tonight. Got stuck down in the pits while the heats were going on, and had to get down there again while you were running your feature. Heard Jeremiah won though. Good show for him, and hoping we'll see the 51 back in the SS ranks soon.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Heats

Truck 1
- Great 3 way action between 17-Brydges, 16-Rijnen, and 93-Koricina. Matt makes the right moves and brings it in 1st. 2nd to Rijnen, 3rd to 82-McCaw

Truck 2
- A runaaway win for 00-Johns but a great 3 way fight for 2nd between Fothergill, Showler and Adraeinsen. 1st-Johns 2nd-Fothergill, 3rd-Showler

Super Stock 1
- 1st to 04-Humphreys, 2nd to 69-Root, 3rd to 7-Sheilds

Super Stock 2
- Tonight we welcomed a visitor to the Super Stock ranks. 20-Kevin Heist, a regular Flamboro Thunder Car campaigner came down to test his mettle at the half mile. (I'd say he did alright nabbing a top 10 feature finish by the time the night was over)

24-Richmond gets out front with 84-Smith glued to his bumper. There was a little spinaround in turn 1 with 9-Dejesus and 77-Lake...no damage but a caution. Otherwise, the top 2 ran away.
1st to Smiling Stephen, 2nd to Smith, 3rd to 11-Lidster

Late Model 1
- Jesse Kennedy was back tonight, this time behind the wheel of the 5-Christie machine. (Jay-C is apparently out for a while due to a non-racing injury.) Jesse made the 5 car his and went on to win the heat under some serious pressure from 22-Ramsay. 28-Robblee was 3rd but under pressure from 25-Powell. Powell was fast tonight and actually laid the bumper on Robblee a couple of times in the heat race.

Late Model 2
- 51-Robblee takes the early lead with 21-Pritiko right there with him. Pritiko gets past and then there's contact on the frontstretch between 81-Greisel and 51-Robblee. Robblee goes high and hits the wall, riding the top of the wall right under the flagstand and coming to a stop down toward turn 1...and hitting the inside wall for good measure. 14-Emery and 72-Thompson are unwittingly caught up in it. The 51's messed up pretty badly.

After the restart, both 20-Lindsay and 52-Sheridan make quick work of Pritiko. 1st to Sheridan, 2nd to Lindsay, 3rd to Pritiko.
(Facebook rumor has it the 51 is toast...we'll see what transpires.)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Features

Demar Aggregates Trucks

Your front row is 17-Brydges on the point with 93-Matt Koricina alongside, followed by McCaw and Rijnen. Brydges takes an early lead until lap 2 caution flies for 99-Koricina and 57-Triska who go around in turn 2.

At the restart, McCaw dives low under Brydges and the two duel side by side for 1st. Mickey's doing a great job on the outside but McCaw has the advantage and takes the lead by lap 4.

Now we have a mess in turn 4 as a bunch of trucks scatter, including 75-Depuis, 33-Fothergill, 99-Koricina, 77-Zagarodny, 76-Porter among others. Big mess and didn't see how it happened. At his point 56-Showler bowed out with some sort of problem too.

On the next restart they made it green as far as turn 2, then Fothergill snaps an axle. Tire goes one way...33 truck goes crunch into the fence. Fothergill is out.

Now the next restart we get a few laps in. Its McCaw in front, then a drag race for 2nd between Brydges and Matt Koricina, then 3-Gemmel, 00-Johns, 7-O'Connor, and 55-Adraeinsen. At the halfway markers, McCaw, Koricina and Gemmel are bumper to bumper.

Now Matt Koricina makes the move down low on McCaw and comes up with the lead. Gemmel tries to follow Koricina through but McCaw doesn't give up that easily. Gemmel and McCaw are drag racing for 2nd but ends badly when the two of them get together and spin. Neither are happy, and the 2 of them are laying it on each other during caution laps. (Exchanging recipes, as Jared says)

Now this restart, its obvious somethings dragging underneath McCaw's truck. He's got a rooster tail of sparks following him for the next few laps. The pack is bunched up, and it comes over the radio that the next caution ends the race. Well the next caution is a doozy as most of us who've been following this Sat know already. Koricina has the lead now with Johns and Adraensen behind. But Koricina is actually pulling away when the final disaster strikes in turn 4.

So now we've got a big pack of trucks rounding turn 4, and suddenly one of them just banks straight into the wall full tilt and dead on. A flash and then the flames start shooting up under the hood...and not just a little carb fire either. This thing erupts. Its the 7 truck with Scott O'Connor behind the wheel and there is no time wasted getting him out there. Once I got down to that end, they had Scott out and he was sitting on the asphalt being attended to. They wheeled him back in the ambulance but glad to say he was up on his feet on his own. Scott's sore today but he will live to fight again!

So, our winner, first time ever feature winner is Matt Koricina, 2nd to Johns, 3rd to Adraensen, 4th to McCaw and 5th to Brydges.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Super Stock Feature

Race starts with 74-Bowman on the point with 04-Humphreys alongside, followed by Root and Sheilds. Right off the green there's a big mid-pack scramble at the start finish line that has cars going everywhere. 60-Ott and 66-Bloemendal both go hard into the inner wall and Lidster goes into the outside wall. Lidster's not in too bad a shape but Ott and Bloemendal are out for the evening. (See photos below) Lengthy red for cleanup and it appears everyone is OK.

Now off the restart, Humphreys takes the point with 84-Smith in tow. Great 4 way dance for third between 99-Nagy, 28-Lawrence, 77-Lake and 24-Richmond. It continues thus until lap 11 when 74-Bowman goes around in 3-4 to bring out the caution.

No real change in the order off the restart, but Smith is hungry pushing Humphreys hard. Humphreys is solid tonight though and is powerful enough to stay up front. ,

Now the order is Humphreys, Smith, and Lawrence, with Richmond and Lake drag racing for 4th. Lake drifts a little high and Richmond gets free. Now the 04, 84, 28 and 24 are all bumper to bumper and checking out on the rest of the field.

At this point, Humphreys has opened up about a car length from Smith and it looks like Smith is just a wee bit off for some reason. Nothing horrendous, but hes not staying with Humphreys like he was in the early going.

Now what could have been a great race is marred by the 74 car who apparently didnt know what the move over flag is for. With the leaders bearing down on him, he drifts up into the middle of the lane. Humphreys goes past, Smith has to go way high, Lawrence and Richmond both scramble and the 74 spins forcing Richmond to a stop. Caution.

Now in the waning laps, it basically a 2 car race. Humphreys is still in front with Lawrence right on his tail. Then Sheilds, Dejesus, Nagy and Lidster. Lawrence tries a couple of times to get up on the high side of Humphreys. As always, Lawrence keeps it clean though and ends up having to settle for 2nd.

1st Humphreys, 2nd Lawrence, 3rd Sheilds,  4th to Nagy and a hard fought 5th for Lidster.

Kudos to Humphreys and the 04 crew. Congrats on the first time win, and congrats on owning the field tonight. Humphreys drove a hell of a race.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NASCAR Late Model Feature

20-Lindsay is on the pole with 22-Ramsay beside, then Sheridan/5-Kennedy, then Robblee/Pritiko. There's a series of failed starts before the ball really gets rolling though. It starts in the 1st turn with Sheridan going around in turn 1 and getting clipped by Pritiko. Restart.

Then 22-Ramsay gets in a little too deep trying to get by Lindsay for the lead and ends up spinning around...also in turn 1.

Now the 3rd restart and they're only on lap 2, 46-Martin loops it in turn 3.

Third time is the charm though, and once it shakes out, its Lindsay in front with 28-Robblee, 25-Powell and 81-Greisel forming the lead pack. Powell is racey tonight and looks like he might be ready to give Robblee a serious run for his money. The top 4 are running nose-tail and running away, while both Sheridan and Ramsay are slicing and dicing their ways back up to the front.

Now 72-Thompson is up into the lead pack and before too long, the Rocket from Mt Brydges is up into it too. Lindsay and Robblee begin to open up a bit of a lead when caution flies when Thompson spins around in turn 2. Didn't see it, but Thompson none too pleased with Sheridan and drives right up on him under caution. Apparently the officials saw it the same way because both the 72 and the 52 are sent to the back.

So now its lap 18. Robblee is welded to Lindsay and all it will take is one miscue by the 20 car. It goes thus until 8-Jacobs brings things to a stop once more spinning in turn 3.

Now at the restart. Powell is really pushing Robblee. Powell's been pushing Robblee on the restarts all night, and in fact it looked like Robblee might've been dragging his heels a bit on the restarts. Hard to say.

It's the waning laps now. Lindsay's still out front with Robblee tucked in behind him. Powell is 3rd but Greisel is rubbing him hard for the spot. Now at lap 27, Ramsay is once again up into the fray and by lap 30, so is Sheridan.

So now the question is "will Robblee play nice?" and the answer was yes. Robblee pushed Lindsay hard, but the Pride of St Marys held the line and brought it home 1st.

1st to Lindsay, 2nd to Robblee, 3rd to Powell, 4th to Greisel, and a hard fought 5th and 6th to Ramsay and Sheridan.

Notes, Photos and Shout Outs

20-Kevin Heist. Flamboro Thunder Car driver here doing some moonlighting. Come on back any time Kevin.

The aftermath of the 51 riding the wall down the frontchute.

Here's one of Rick Emery from Ruscom. For those that have been reading, I haven't always been generous with the 14 LM, but Rick and I talked and he's a good guy...and is definitely gaining ground as one of our better runners here. He enlightened me on just where Ruscom is - down between Tilbury and Windsor. Rick was a campaigner at the now defunct Checker Flag Speedway in Windsor and has been running here the last 3 years. Great to meet you Rick.

Here's Dougy on the move in his heat race.

SS heat getting ready to roll out. Talk about a pit full of race cars.

Thumbs up from the Flying Dutchman. (I'm a member of the wooden shoe club too. Go Devon.)

Jesse Kennedy in heat race victory lane, being interviewed by Chris Soares.

Bill Robinson and Kim McCullough. They're the brains behind the MRA andd were up top tonight selling tickets to win passes to the ISMA show. Bill is a crewman on Shippy's 88 Mod, and Kim is Derek and Dave McCullough's mom. (Mod 39/Enduro 38 and 39)

And hey...why do the drivers get all the fun? This is a community board...here's some fans!

A couple of turn 1 stalwarts, Sharon and Don. There every night without fail, and are faithful readers...and have no issues about letting us know which trucks they like and which ones they don't.  ;D

An original member of the CRO Faithful. This is DB1, aka Don Bini. I hear he's a bit of a race fan.

The lovely Vicki. She's a sometime poster here. Old time race fans will remember Hoppy the Clown. (Not the impostor they had a couple years ago...but the REAL Hoppy.) Well, Vicki is his daughter.

I'm thinking the 7 truck wouldn't be near as torn up as it is if it weren't for the Jersey barriers. Same for the 51. He would have just pancaked the right side instead of riding the wall. I wasn't there Friday but the pictures tell the tale and I have seen the same story many times over the years with those walls. Is Delaware ever going to get rid of those things?
