Although I found the Friday 4 cyl race very entertaining I don't think Delaware should start a regular 4 cyl class. Running the specials is where they should stay concentrated. I know Fridays are a problem for travellers but if they make it worth their while they will come. Four times a year MAX would be plenty. Home track rules are fine. Have good payouts for the winner overall and the winner from each group from a particular track then you may get more Sunset and Barrie cars making the trek. Also other tracks could co-ordinate their off nites for their 4 cyls.........sorry I was dreaming again lol. The fact that there was such a difference in how the cars were able to perform made the race IMO. Just have to figure out how to make it worth while for guys that know they can't win to show up besides the opportunity to run on the big track.
not sure what the CRX has but him and the neon with the RT engine should win every nite at ohsweken if they arent breaking something in a rut or blowing a tire...
I was in the stands. What the HELL does that CRX do to handle like that!? High, low, it didn't matter, he never lost momentum. It was crazy. If it weren't for the track getting rutty from the weather and popping a bead on his tire he would've dominated. Crazy good race though.
They also had eliminations in both 4cyl and Thunder stock, the fields were so big. I've gotta think running cars there is just a ton cheaper, there's no other explanation.
On an unrelated note, I brought my buddy there for his very first oval track experience--the sprint cars surprised the hell out of him. 😀
We were also there, and I think that CRX has no weight in it. Seriously quick, and he was just that fast two weeks ago. Telling me Mini Stock can't make a show, is untrue. Those guys were probably the best show two weeks in a row.
That CRX is a well thought out ex championship winning car and it only has to weight 2050 lbs. Next time you're there have a look.
Mini Stock rules,
21.0 – Weights
• 21.1 – Cars with engines under 1900cc minimum weight 2050 plus any handicaps
minus any weight breaks.
• 21.2 – Cars with engines over 1900cc minimum weight 2400 plus any handicaps
minus any weight breaks.
Wow, 350 lbs, that explains it. I don't think the loss of 10 hp or so makes up for that. 😮
