Rules management is actually relatively difficult in the 4 cylinders. At any given night you will have 10-15 different cars on the track, all of which were completely different from the factory, all running completely different motors. And we actually get up to 75mph at Sunset so I could definitively see 80+ at Delaware 😉
Yeah but I meant, in terms of "stock, SOHC, no variable valve timing, xxx curb weight" it's pretty simplistic. I didn't mean the parity would be perfect.
I think I they are to start a mini stock class do this:
Choose only a few cars to race in it. Don't allow any hondas(and I race one) no nissans. I'd say keep it to a cavalier/sunfire and maybe the 130hp neon. Those two cars are only option. Weigh them accordingly and go nuts.
I know the cavs/sunfire have a few motor options but find something that works for rules and keep it to only one or 2 options for cars and I be I takes off and it's as easy as the other classes to tech because all the cars are the same. Find something cheap and readily available.
pages of crap on 4 cylinders.
does this get butts in the seat? don't get distracted. 4 cylinder classes are for people to get into it cheap and eventually move up. they provide decent entertainment while the upper classes wrench and get ready for their races. The bone stocks already do that. they need more shenanigans, not less 'cause that's where the entertainment value lies.
Want cheap, competative 4cylinder racing thats easy to tech?
Neon racing
everyone drives a sohc non R/T neon with 195-70-14 motomaster se tires. has to be painted with neon paint.
the things are a dime a dozen, parts a dime for 2 dozen. all the same speed there would be tons of neon paint swapped every race and that might hold some people's interest.
but don't get distracted, 4cyl is a very tiny part of getting people out.
I think the folks at Ohsweken and Barrie would disagree with you.
