What is a metric chassis?
1978-1987 Olds Cutlass, Chevy Monte Carlo, Buick Regal, Pontiac Lemans or Grand Prix, Chevy Malibu. The front ends are the same as S-10's and so are the brakes, You want to find a car with the F-41 suspension option. If you need any help just email me I have built a few and they are prett easy to do. Roll bar kits are cheap as well, or do a transplant ;D
Will do, thanks for the help.... Im still not sure if Im gonna race this coming year or the following year
JWO is wise, metrics are an easy start point. Soooo many interchangable parts, so on except the roll center is like a fat elephant on a tight rope. My first fast car was an Olds Cutlass. 350 well done backed up by a 350 tranny, 3.73 gears, and valve springs from an LT1 (aftermarkets). That car was whipping 24's after a lot of setup.
Second gen (70-82)Camro/Birds are one of the best, IF you can find one.
S-10's are legal now, and untested. With leaf rear ends, there's a possibility of a nice setup with rear steer. But still untested.
Dakotoa's are legal too, and come with everything from 3.9's to 360's. These are also rear leaf, like the S-10's.
The 160 car has done well, as has Newman's number 10. The third gen F-Body is loose as crap through a goose. I know, as my 109 is slowly getting it's bugs worked out. We also have had budget problems this year, so spending the cash we need has been trying. We haven't given up yet on it, and will be there again on the 26th. Not to forget, the biggest ailment to these cars is dissapating the engine heat. >:( But other than that, we see potential on this chassis.
Whatever you run, keep it simple (eating my own words with that fuel injection).
So your saying I should get a metric chassis, and run a carburetor instead of fuel injection?? And the best car to run is a Camaro or Firebird??
