Really, how many guys would end up converting their cars down to Street Stock spec? Depending on how old the chassis is, it might not even be an issue as far as competitiveness...
EDIT: Don't get me wrong, allowing something like that is a dangerous road to go down for the viability of the weekly program, not to mention several of the classes themselves. I just don't know if it'll be worth re-clipping a CASCAR-style car to run Street Stock when there's been a couple of CASCAR-cars converted with some success to late model spec...

Now that would depend on a couple of things.
Lets look at a few of the options
1 a new street stock chassis from mccolls could run in the 3000.00-4500.00 mark.
What if you could get a old cascar chassis for under a 1000.00
and you had all the bolt on stuff and you could do all the work yourself and had a clip.
Whats to lose?
Maybe the fact the tech team is working with teams now and have a good idea what is going on anyway now they are just working with and helping the teams with cost factors.
I will guarntee these things have been full blow racecars for years but now with the apperance diffences people are starting to complain.
They are race cars that is the way it is and should be.
A old cascar maybe a cheaper way to go for some.

If your willing to do the stuff below with a latemodel then your costs from McColls is nowhere near 3000 for a streetstock

That's the problem. The "tech team" in fact isn't working with the drivers, just a select few. Changes are being allowed but not published. If cost factors were the aim, changes like headers etc. never would have been done. (after market manifolds are being allowed on the trucks - $80 a piece)
The expensive carbs were allowed, again before the end of a season and only to those who asked about it. Nothing was published till the following year. Evidently there a new spacer listed for the carb  200.00 ????? Those existing spacers 1000's of racers are using on the cars were warping only on the Delaware cars????

I know, you don't have to upgrade, but what's the sense. The rules should allow drivers to compete on a level playing field, not influenced by the amount of money they have.

I will guarantee these things have been full blow racecars for years but now with the appearance diffenc es people are starting to complain.

You'd lose on that guarantee, it's only been recently that things have been slowly changed by a carefully orchestrated movement to the state they are now.

They are race cars that is the way it is and should be.

No thats not the way it is or should be. The more even the cars are the more each drivers skills come to the top and the better the racing is.

A old cascar maybe a cheaper way to go for some.

If you have one, then yes.

I hear what your saying LMFAN, but there's a lot of people afraid this direction will just be another nail in the coffin for local racing

The tech team has a open door all you have to do is go through it.
The amount of money you have has always been a big part of racing.(Sorry)
Headers are 206.00
Corvette manifolds are 500.00 for  a set.
The manifolds you are talking about for the trucks are not big enough for the street stocks.
The other great thing about racing is not all about the driver it is also team knowledge and workmanship.
