Delaware Speedway PRHero’s Night Takes Shape
In light of very high anticipation for the exciting event this Friday at Delaware Speedway spectator gates will be opening one-half hour ahead of schedule at 5:30 PM.
Highbury Ford Night presented by NewsTalk 1290 AM will feature a thrilling line up of weekly divisions (APC Late Model, Peterbilt of Ontario Super Stock, POWERADE Modified) as well as the eagerly anticipated Throne Kings of the Hill $1,000.00 to win Spectator Race event presented by APC / CANUSA, Huron Produce & Ron O’Brien Remax.
The evening, being called “Hero’s Night” will be a Delaware’s salute to men & women in uniform. Uniformed Police, Fire Fighters, Paramedics, Active Military & Vetearns will all be given free admission to the facility on Friday as a thank-you for all they give or have given so we can live the lives we do. During opening ceremonies the men & women in uniform are invited to the front straightaway for national anthems (visiting American followed by our Canadian anthem). During the singing of O’Canada we hope the crowd will raise their voice and join in presenting the anthem.
Displays are confirmed from the Canadian Armed Forces, Delaware Fire Department & Rodney Fire Department who will be displaying their command centre called “Big Foot” as well as a 1941 Pumper Truck.
Hoppy the clown will be out and about on the concourse and out front bringing his special brand of racing fun to the evening.
The new 2007 autograph book is also being put into full circulation. The book was released last week at the Challenger Motor Freight Truck challenge, but this Friday will be its first night with the rest of the weekly divisions. The full colour book features photos of all cars in all divisions that race at Delaware Speedway (including Krown JRL & Transmission Direct Enduro). The book, along with the new Delaware Speedway “You Won’t See Racing This Intense On Television” T-Shirts will be available in the souvenir booth.
If you know new fans who are coming out Friday, don't let them forget their race essentials; hat, sunglasses, portable radio for announcers feed (88.1FM/89.1 FM), binoculars and ear plugs for those with sensitive hearing. It never hurts to throw a lawn chair in the back as well, just in case you’d rather pick your own spot on the hill!
For those who want to make a weekend out of it, the back straightway campground will be open for free, unserviced, first come first served camping.
On Saturday, the action continues this weekend with the running of the action packed Transmission Direct Enduro 250 presented by All-Round Truck and Auto Care. The event is the last qualifying event for the Transmission Direct Enduro All-Star race on the Great Canadian Race Weekend. Gates on Saturday will open at 7:00 PM and racing will begin at 8:00 PM. Ask anyone who was at the last Transmission Direct Enduro - - these races are not to be missed!
With two great days of racing, it’s sure to be a great weekend to experience Delaware Speedway!
