Right now the glass cars carry weight 18" off the ground 50 lb extra.

Its not an extra 50lbs. Just 50 lbs of the total weight. The overall weight is still 3200 lbs.

You'd be suprised how much weight the newer cars had to add to get to 3200 (or 3300 with built motor)

interesting, then yes by all means drop the steel body cars weight.. lets say 100lbs , and raise the left....still the best class in the joint...do you not think more will build new cars as the cost of the cars and replacement parts are getting out of hand?

I dunno, all I keep hearing from the 28 bunch is that they have tons of fenders, quarters, and whatever else.  They seem loaded for bear.  ;D

It'd be interesting to do a full cost comparison with the complete Five-Star Metric bodies vs. the Fibreglass cars.

I would think less would build new cars since the price of a new car is out of hand.

All new chassis have to be Camaros.

4. CHASSIS AND SUSPENSION

14. Any newly constructed chassis must use:
a. 71-81Camaro pick up points and measurements on both the front and rear.
b. all newly constructed vehicles must conform to 1979-1981 camaro specification.

29. ROLL BARS

11. For newly constructed cars, or cars new to the speedway must be constructed as follows:

I'm assuming the intent of the rule is the next generation fabricated cars, I don't think they want anything way out there. I would imagine you showed up with a real car you'd be ok,
I'd like to try a Ford with the struts really get tech going!!!!
The number 60 car is pretty much much a real car with lots of metal up front. The back end is fabbed using Camaro mounts and geometry. Like I said earlier I'd like to put a glass body on it or failing that I would enjoy a weight break and I'm sure Jake would too

I would like to start my post with saying I think Joe has done a fantastic job. Hes a great guy that you can always go to if you have any questions or concerns.
I am a huge Delaware fan a crew member and a former competitor at Delaware.
Some things I see that could use help or improvement.
Johns posts make alot of sense but he is posting alot of what has happened in the past and when we are looking at some of the worst fan turnouts and some of the worst car counts we have ever had you can't rest on what you have accomplished in the past.
Track upgrades what has happened lately? This Year
Admission prices at 16.00 for 2 hrs of entertainment that makes it the only entertainment a family can afford weekly in alot of cases and they are making other choices.
Trucks running 3 Wide?
I can tell you first hand this does not happen anymore 2 wide doesnt happen very often the trucks have gotten to where you root a guy from the bottom and drive under him and he watches the train go by.
If you are faster then the guy infront of you you have 3 laps to try and make that pass work and if not your tires get hot and backwards you go.
If you miss the grove on the outside by just alittle bit you are in trouble.
The SS class is some of the best racing there is at Delaware but the Glass cars need to have weight added when Paul dusts the field and gets out of his car at the end of the feature and says the car wasn't that great in his interview you know they have a distinct advantage.
The late models need help with car count and as far as a fan when you run a double 50 and you start them straight up for the 2nd 50 what the hell are you thinking?
They have done some fantastic things at Delaware in the past few years and Joe should get a lot of credit for that and Arlin has put forth alot of money to do the improvements. My only fear is that if we don't improve the show no one will be there to support it and that would Suck.
Fast guys should always start in the back and have to drive there way to the front cause from a fans point of view thats entertainment and isn't that what we are all paying for?
