Crowd was not great, unfortunately.  Neil said he looked up from the pits and couldn't believe how empty the place looked.  Heat and threat of rain probably kept a lot of people away.  Didn't want to risk paying the $39 if there was a risk of the races not running.

As it turned out, there was a brief significant shower between practice and the race start but things went off without a hitch after that.

Crowd today was down from Friday of course as that nights crowd was big and with the cost for another show the crowd did not surprise me as there is only so much money going on things to do let alone a back to back show at $39.00 addmission.another problem the Sunday raindate time was only announced on the website.Nothing was mentioned on the A channel on Saturday to tell the public that they were racing Sunday afternoon. As for radio did not heard anything also. For the show it self ISMA put on a great show.Cars were passing in turns and in the odd case they were going 3 wide coming in and out of the turns. As for a double show next year go back to a single show and if possible pencil in a rain date with time so racefans can plan there weekend. It was shown that these type of cars will draw fans as was shown Friday night.

I disagree somewhat. Assuming the weather's good, I think the Fri/Sat combo is awesome. Supers both nights and all of our divisions represented...can't beat that. I actually like it better than the format for the whole APC weekend.

Only thing is, I'd really like to see the Supers going 100 laps or something on one of those nights...although I imagine that's probably unlikely. They don't do too many triple digit races any more.

Following a Saturday night rainout, the ISMA Super Modifieds were back in action for their second event of the weekend at Delaware Speedway.

Jeff Locke was looking to back his Friday night feature with another win that would have helped him claim the $10,000 Tammy Ten bonus for a weekend sweep, but the #37 car struggled with weather conditions that couldn’t have been further from Friday night’s affair, and wouldn’t finish the event.

Vern Romanski has been strong as of late on the ISMA circuit of late, and led for quite a while at the last Canadian stop in Cauyga in early July before a broken drive shaft knocked him out of commission.

Romanski appeared to be the man to beat from the time the green flag dropped in Sunday’s 50-lapper.  Pole sitter Bob Haynes Jr. Took the lead in turn one and two, but by the time they got back to the stripe, Romanski was at the head of the field.

London, ON driver Mark Sammutt, fresh off his first career IMSA win at Cayuga in early July, took second early and started in his pursuit of Romanski, but he would hurt the front end of his car on one of the early restarts.  “I got into the back of someone and bent the wing up,” Sammutt explained.  “We were in really good shape and the car was fast before that happened.  After that we started to push, and was just so tight.  We were running second when I got high and the #61 [Dave Shullick] got under me late.”

Shullick was on the charge from outside the top-ten and moved into the top-five very early in the race.  He continued pressing forward and after passing Sammutt tracked down Romanski.  On lap 48, Romanski made a mistake in traffic and Shullick was able to take control.

A frustrated Romanski spoke about letting one slip through his fingers, “Just another near miss for us.  I had been driving the car into turn one the same way every lap all day, and there was a slower car on the bottom and I just put it in the same way on the top and around it went.”

Shullick was able to take his car to victory lane, holding off a limping Sammutt on the final restart.  It was his second win of the season, with the first coming at Waterford, and he spoke about the pass for the win.  “Vern was getting looser and looser and we didn’t fall off as much as he did.”

Sammutt would use the attrition to help finish second, with Jeff Holbrook filling in the final step on the podium with a third-place run.  Chris Perley was fourth with Rob Summers fifth.

Another local driver, Ryan Litt was breaking in a new car and while the chassis was working well through the turns, the team struggled with motor issues, but still finished 10th.

In the Super Stock division Darrell Lake and Jason Lidster entered the day in a tie atop the championship points standings, and Lidster was able to pick up one point in heat race action.  After starting 10th, Jason fired his way to the inside and moved to fourth by the time the races first yellow flew on lap five.

After starting on the pole, Brad Clark had command of the race early, but just after the halfway mark Lidster came to second and made the move by Clark.  He would bring fellow championship combatant Lake with him, after Lake started in 14th.  Lake made a couple of late attempts on the high side, but would be forced to settle with a second-place finish.  Lake spoke about the finish, “I stayed in line behind Jason until we got away from Brad Clarke, and I think that if we could have gotten away sooner we might have had a shot.  I didn’t want to try Jason on the high side and lose second.”

Lidster admitted that Lake had a faster car at the end, “I slowed the pace and made sure I hugged the bottom.  He got outside of me once, but I knew he didn’t have enough to get me out there.  I also wanted to keep him pinned out there until the last minute so he couldn’t pull a crossover move on me at the end.”

For Lidster it was his second consecutive feature win in a row, and unofficially moves him five points ahead of Lake in the title chase.

In the Open Wheel Modified division for the second week in a row John Saunders took command of the feature for much of the early going, but a mix up with Paul Shipway would end both of their chances at victory.  Jamie Cox would get dragged into that mess, and all three of them would have to go to the back of the pack.  That left Barry Newman and David McCullough out front, and McCullough could do nothing with Newman heading to the checkers and Newman recorded the win.  Point leader Jamie Cox scratched and clawed his way back through the field to finish third, while Darrell Limon and Paul Shipway rounded out the top-five.

Shadow going 100 laps is tough to do without doing a pitstop for refueling which would be tough to do as if not mistaken years before Delaware used to have a Supemod classic think was 100 laps and they used to refuel in the pit area not on pit row as it was not there then.If not mistaken these cars can go approx 70 laps total on a 1/2 mile track. The long races 100 laps are on smaller tracks in which they can run those laps .
