This seems like a convenient time to pass on a compliment...
I've been up in the stands a few times and seen Hoppy working with some of the younger kids. Any doubters, just watch the kids' faces as they stare at Hoppy while he's blowing a balloon or whatever else. Some are in awe of this apparent magic, others smile from ear to ear.
Maybe he doesn't add anything to the show for an older fan (I don't see him taking anything away either), but in an attempt to appeal to families and younger kids...bang on in my opinion.

Heh...well, I sat and watched him put one big burly ex-delaware driver in stitches up top one night, so he's not doing too bad.
But you're right, his mic skills might need a little work. They should probably give him some pointers for Fri...they can't do a 3 week build up to "Hoppy's Challenge." and just yank the mic from him on the big night.
Besides...that whole turn 1 - turn 4 thing is pretty cool. Its nice to hear Delaware fans making some noise for a change!
I will try to be more constructive. KEEP THE CLOWN OFF THE MIC or at least get him to stop screaming into the dam thing. Here is a suggestion does he have unicycle or can he juggle, you know those things clowns do. Who knows maybe here is an elephant trainer that is also a fan of the race track, and he can bring his elephants out for the APC 300.

I have personally witnessed the smiles that Hoppy has put on the faces of the young kids - he does an super job IMHO. And, with all due respect to Shadow, CASCARJr52 and others, I don't think that anyone is more dedicated to making Delaware Speedway a great place to take the family on Friday night. Go Hoppy !
Heh...I see everyone's chipping in their support for the clown. I think its kind of interesting that "putting smiles on the faces of the kids" is what everyone seems to think is really great.
Funny though, on those nights when he does the cheering contests, its not the kid's voices that we hear.
Is it just for the kids?
