wow were just read over the sheet again, interesting very interesting
Some people might get pissed at me but I think the 50 lb add to the glass cars should be augmented with a 50lb weight brake to the steel bodied cars. I think this would be a step towards parity of the two different types of cars. As it is there is definitely a bigger difference than 50 lbs, and I might argue it exceeds a 100
Here is my thoughts for what its worth ... the newest car driven by a good driver is usually the fastest ... and thats the way racing has always been ... not everyone can win ... my bet is the competition was tough but JR and the 33 car started up front and ran away with it ..annnd it wasnt like they were 2 seconds faster then everyone else .. they had clean air no traffic jamming them up...
fast cars win races ... and you need to run against faster cars to get your better... It will shake out in the end everyone will step up... there was nothing space age on j.r's car that I seen ...
Game on ..

Hey Jim,
Don't want to rain on your parade but I think you should look at the rule, or teach me how to read.
The way I see it is only 50lbs of the total weight needs to be up 18".
did everyone with quick times get out of room of doom ok? is there any difference in the weight of the body? ( after you lighten up the body panels )
See you Friday and good luck to all.
Umm I was saying in addition to the weight add to the glass cars there should be a weight deduct for steel cars. I wasn't at the race but I can figure it out from the Lap times and the finishing margins that there appears to be a distinct advantage. JR broke into the 20's which is pretty fast, considering the 5" ride height rule was brought in to slow things down.
Don't get me wrong I"m not against glass cars but I think it's short sighted to figure on grasping a number out of the sky and saying it will work for a handicap. Clearly it didn't work out as planned, and I would hazard to say there is some head scratching going on.
The 14 didn't make thru tech unscathed and the car will require some changes, but there was nothing earth shattering.
I might Like to add that Lidster, Smith and Lake and Lawrence all ran right in and around where the class was running last year which is 21.2's and 21.3's J.R ran a 20.935. while Fothergill ran a 21.199.
We will have to see how it pans out
