Here's a little bit about what I think ... If you want the mod class to survive let them go to the same engine as the truck and super stock class (no big cash lay out for the engine )  just chassis !!!  Next .... make them run same tires (get rid of the slicks)Kill the top five fast guy's and make them drive !!! They'll have all kinds of power but will burn up the tires and that will make things interesting JMHO !!!

          Later ... Brooksie  :-*

offset cars are allowed, and some did race at various times throughout the season, they just have to have a weight penalty.

Thanks for clearing that up. It occurred to me after I wrote it that if McKluskey's really was an old mod, then they must have some sort of check in place for that. And hey, if it keeps em' all basically even then its all good IMO.

As far as the rest of it goes, I can't comment on exactly what the deal was, because I really don't know it. But I sorta understood it as if you move up to LM, then you get the 1000 incentive, and if you drop to Truck or SS then its 500, and in both cases you have to race 6 events in the new division to get the bonus. And that's pretty fair - they just want some sort of reasonable commitment and 6 races is the benchmark. Its either that or else you have a scenario like someone renting or borrowing a car....say the 2 Super Stock for example, (it always has someone different driving it anyway), then coming out for just one race and saying "where's my 500?"  Like it or not, these guys are not in the business of giving out free money.

However, I'm talking without really knowing so I'm sorta spitballing here.

Now, something that bugs me a little bit is this:  Those who have been following this thread know that it started with a statement which I thought at first was unfair and unfounded – rumormongering and internet BS. As moderator, I erred on the side of the drivers, track, and sponsors of the division and shut the thread down. At which point, a few of the mod guys, plus a few others, PMed me and told me there actually had been a meeting and that it wasn’t just plain old bitching….and thus the thread went back up.

I can’t help but notice that none of the mod guys, except Brooksie about 20 mins ago, has publicly come out and actually clarified anything. I know the PMs I got before, so I know some of the guys are watching. Reading between the lines, one might surmise there may be a reason they are not posting here. It could be that they feel its no one’s business, and that’s more than fair. It also may be that there are other reasons that no one will comment publicly...

Anyway, its between the track and the drivers, no one else’s business really. But its winter and everyone’s bored. If there’s anyone out there that would do us the honor of clarifying exactly what the scoop is, feel free to PM me.

Brooksie has got a good portion of the problem figured out, and I agree, under tire the Mod class.
But I don't see the need for engine rules at all, the tires can and will limit the engines.

What tires do the Super Stocks and Trucks run? Hoosier 970? cause that would be an excellet choice for the 6 race Mod class.
On 970's we would try to make as many of the six races as possible. Hopefully the Fridays off at Spartan would be on at Delaware!

Well there are  more then 6 races!!!! in the mod class there are 9 races plus one at sauble on a sat nite in july and there is one on the Friday night at varney if we want to go to that one as well !! The idea was to race Friday night at varney then stay over night and race the next nite a sauble  just a short drive away. What do any of the mod racers think of that idea????  If they want to make a touring class  in 2011  I think we need to start in 2010 to get this travelling class up and running  i really think its a great idea to travel around to diffrent tracks, Get the mods more popular and get more ppl interested in the GREAT CLASS that is truly is !!!?????  any comments to this post?????
