Last year (and I assume still this year, John?) they provide a bonus to the highest finishing V6, or highest finishing Truck, or highest finishing 4 cylinder I think... But they're not showing up because they have no hope.
These bonuses are still and place and can be reviewed here: http://www.delawarespeedway.com/competition/payout-information/transmission-direct-enduro

But they're not showing up because they have no hope. If it was strictly a power/weight thing, a 2500 lb 3.1 Corsica say, would probably run similar lap times to, say, a 3500 lb Cutlass with a stock 305. But the current crop of Enduro cars are just one step below a Super Stock, both in terms of power and in terms of prep. So there's no point, other than to finish at the back AND then get that bonus.
Okay, so they want a race all their own, without 8's. How does the track get there??
Announce a 4/6 cyl enduro for next month, post rules and see what happens??
How many cars would show up??
I understand wanting the enduro to get better or car counts up,It's a great idea but the big question is how do you get there?
It has to make sense for the track as well as the racers.
I'm not thinking its a "build it, they will come" sort of thing. Too much risk.
You either morph a division into it or try and entice drivers to run in the existing enduro untill car count gets to the point they can put on a show themselves.

By giving them their own class in the race, allowing them to race for glory and the win.
June last year, My Wife and Kids and I were @ Delaware to watch and support the 01 Enduro. When they Chaos cars were out my kids got all excited and seemed to really enjoy watching them race. My wife turned to me and Said " These cars look like fun. You should build one as a winter project " . so after being told that i went a head and had one built 2 months later.. not exactly a winter project..lol . Now as far as Cheap entry level class, let me break down what it cost me.
Car: 91 Honda accord,not running 200 bucks
Safety equipment including Helmet 250 bucks
I happened to be able to source the cage material and steel for my bumpers for Free
T shirt Cannons: 50 bucks worth of hoses and fittings and Cables.
That's 500 bucks to build.
Repairs so far.
Tie rod end. : free from sponsor
Rad Cracked: $5 Jb weld
Clutch Exploded: 65 Bucks
Upper control arm , Spindle, Strut, taken out at the last race: 90 bucks
so right now i am about $660 total invested .
I have made $280 back so far in winnings and saved 160 bucks in pit fees
that's a return of $440.
Car has raced 5 times for less than 40 dollars in gas so far.
works out to $260 bucks out of my pocket.
Now I do have a rather large Time investment in the car Building and fixing. But that's half the fun of racing
And that is why i do this. For Fun!. it is a total blast.
"Downforce" and I brought our cars up to the grandstand after the last race and were practically mobbed by kids looking for autographs and excited about the cars. And I take that as a sign the the Chaos Cars are doing something right.. Entertaining the fans and keep them coming back for more.
Well Toxic, you seemed to have a grasp on reality a little firmer than some of the folks on here!!
We do it cause it's what we enjoy....Forget the money it doesn't exist. You will always run out of pocket in amateur motorsports. If you can pick pick up a sponsor here or there than you will spend that on improving your program.
BTW was that a Sunfire beating up on some V-8's last night?
oh yah a nite at the tittie bar costs way more than a night the track
