I'm not badmouthing the Chaos Cars, they're great. I'm just answering what I believe to be the "problem" with the Enduro class. And it's a long-term problem--short term, the racing is great and there's nothing to complain about. Dougie just raises the point that the class HAS to move toward 4/6 cyl cars to survive the next 10 years.
But, if John says that's what they're AIMING toward with Chaos Cars, I guess that does the trick. But until they race "full races" not many people will ACCEPT that they're a competitive racing class (even if they are.)
I read toxic accord's budget breakdown with great interest -- their car is one of the 'top of the line' chaos cars, in terms of quality of build, so I was curious where their budget would stand at. Thank-you for sharing.
I had a chance to speak to a few people last night about the exciting things going on in the series, and was even able to share a handful of copies of an updated vehicle preparation guide that has been in the works. Their reaction was extremely positive. Chaos Drivers can rest easy - - there's no new information going out that we haven't already talked about in drivers meetings.
Furthermore, Enduro drivers can rest easy, growth in the Chaos series is no threat to your current racing operations and in fact, is likely to have a positive effect if the count increases, as it will provide a stepping stone into that excellent series and even Friday night competition. Enduro is fun, in and of itself and should be proud of its accomplishments and the cars that have been built. Any speedway would be lucky to have a division with cars and drivers like the enduro.
I'll also add that my work on projects like this and the train races and other ‘circuses’ are not at the expense of the Enduro or weekly divisions. My work on the Chaos Cars I greatly enjoy and most of the prep for that actually goes on outside of office hours (it’s Saturday afternoon and I’m happily working away). Our tech representative, Don Perkins is a volunteer and it looks like we’re going to pick up one more volunteer as a result of this thread. It’s the hard work of the volunteers and the drivers themselves that keeps this project moving forward, not to mention the sponsors who have stepped up to the plate to provide the backing.
There were a number of plans in the works before this thread came up, so perhaps the timing of these discussions couldn’t be better. I'm hoping to be able to put out these ideas very soon after a bit more research.

I'm new here so maybe don't have much of an opinion but here it is anyways.
One of the main reasons I am in the Enduro is that I can not afford to race every weekend both financially and as a family man, time. Enduro gives me the opportunity to race in almost a "real" race do to being able to race other fast cars and getting some "real" type of racing. I believe that is what the Enduro class has become and it suits alot of guys. Concerning money - well if you are in Enduro for money you need to give your head a shake. Costs me $50 in gas to get to and from the track, $100 in gas for the race car, $20 for entrance and for what - my hobby and enjoyment and hopefully one day become one of those top 5 cars - if I ever get some good money that will be icing on the cake.
May I add John - make the Chaos Cars more of another "racing" class and I think you would have more guys put cars in. Right now I think too many of them think of it as a 'joke' kid thing not racing. Put some numbers on the cars and take the names off them and get them to race a 10 lap heat and 25 lap feature like other class's - tough spot you are in to get all happy - that's why you get paid the big bucks!!
We are on this enduro thing again, give me a break. I really hope people don't expect to show up with a half ass car and have a chance to win. The guys who are fast have worked for it, over the course of many years. The chaos cars have their place and so does the enduro, leave well enough alone... for now.
that is not the point of this poll .
the point is the enduro cars as they are right now the top ten run the same if not a bit faster lap times then the trucks and are comparable to the s.s. class.
lets move these guys up see what they can do.
And it isnt for the drivers it is for the fans mostly. Fans like the excitement theres no doubting that.
Just think for a second here you being a fan/driver whatever .
What is the best scenario for the division more cars more money for the driver/Track.
Or just watch the paint dry and see the same ol top ten on the track winning everyweek over and over again.
HMMMMMMMMMMM............. i think i go with the latter.
