My previous post sounds a bit harsh, and for that I apologise. I shouldn't write those things in the A.M before coffee. But I will say, it would be a good idea to promote it earlier than off season (if you plan to do anything). Talk to the other tracks that run these, and possibly find a viable situation?

I would not say the post as overly harsh, it does prompt discussion.  Working at the speedway you develop a thick skin.

I think perhaps one of the issues at work is that the community has not been kept in the loop with the Chaos Car plans.  The drivers in the series have been having this discussion with me since the beginning of the season at our drivers meetings - - the switch to the full-speedway course was part of that.  Picking up an additional prizing sponsor spurred further growth.

I do not believe that Chaos Car growth need have a negative effect on the existing Next Generation Enduro Program.  In fact, without exception, competitors in the Chaos Car series have been completely new to competition at the track.  I would imagine that continued growth of brand new competitors to the speedway would infact trigger a growth in the Next Gen Endruo.  We have 15 drivers available for competition (13 started the last race) and will be adding three more brand new ones over the coming weeks.  With that, the Chaos Cars will be 30% of the size of the current Next Generation Enduro Series.

When we project this forward you will have two great options for entry-level racing: Chaos Cars for cheap 4 & 6 cylinder racing, Enduro for faster and more serious entry-level racing.  Both fill a different need for the community.  One has a lower barrier to entry and will serve to bring more fresh faces into competition -- this can only be a good thing.

The Chaos series that I operate, has enjoyed its small successes only because the drivers have supported the class.  Driver support is what is driving this series, otherwise I would have let it go two years ago when the going got tough.  My feeling, based on the number of rulebooks that have been getting picked up from the souvenir booth, combined with the increased number of competitors on the track are sending a message.

With regards to the DaCar series, the Chaos Cars are clearly on a similar rule set - - they were invited to join last year!  The timing simply didn’t work out by the time we received that invite last year.  It is certainly a model the series has looked at.

As Chaos director, I feel I’m being very clear with regards to the classes present and future:
-It is a 4/6 cylinder series (the 6 cylinder provision will be added to the next version of the rulebook), with one key limit: that performance cars (ie. Mustangs) are not permitted.
-The series runs on the full speedway (now that car count is consistently stronger)
-The cars are bone stock with safety upgrades only.
-The cars are easy to find, and easy to find parts for.
-The speeds are kept in check by the presence of gutted obstacle cars, just like the old enduro.
-The series has a fair payout structure, which was boosted by a sponsor.

The series today is not the Ultimate Chaos Cars of four years ago.  The cars are the same, but the class itself continues to evolve but has kept the same culture and avoided the politics: it is a group of drivers who want to have fun in a safe, controlled cost environment in 4 and 6 cylinder vehicles that are readily available.

It’s the only series I’ve ever been involved with where a participant ran over to me after the race at Tim Hortons excited and talked to me for 10 minutes about how it’s the most fun he’s ever had - - probably one of the most rewarding interactions I’ve had with a participant at the track… ever.

Something is going right - - but it seems difficult to put into text on the internet.

(ie. 14 cars = 14 laps, 18 cars = 18 laps, 50 cars = 50 laps) and you work together from there.

i dont think any of the cars would be running after 50 laps

I may be wrong but weren't the "old enduro obstacle cars", cars that were no longer able to run that started the race?

You are correct -- they became obstacles after being disabled.  We've been simulating it in Chaos Cars by positioning cars that have their fuel systems removed on the track prior to the event.
