The 01 truck is messed up pretty bad also.

I think this truck was messed up before that crash at the end. If he would keep his nose out of places it shouldn't be his truck may have made out better.

Urlin and Verhoeven Each Win First Delaware Feature of Season

Jonathon Urlin started his success on the night early as he nabbed the pole with the fastest qualifying lap of the session before blitzing the field through the first Delaware Speedway Late Model feature of the evening.

Following it up in the feature, the London driver survived two early cautions, before a lap 14 yellow would set the field for the final restart.  Ron Sheridan and Steve Robblee had moved into the top-three, but neither could do anything with the polesitter as Urlin cruised to the win.

The second generation Delaware driver spoke about it afterwards, “We’ve been so close all year.  We have been able to qualify in the top-five, and then we get done in by the inversion.  Tonight there was no dice roll but it still came up Urlin tonight.  That made a big difference, because the cars are so equal.”

For Urlin it was his first win of the season and combined with Jesse Kennedy’s problems during the evening, moved to third in points, but still logistically too far behind point leader Sheridan, and the only other one in contention, Robblee.  In the second feature Urlin was able to finish third, capping off the solid night, “We needed this one.  We’ve got one every year since we started racing stock cars.  Now the only thing left is to finish off 2009 with a win in the 300 at Delaware and try to get one in the 300 in Ste. Eustache.”

Sheridan and Robblee filled the podium while Scott Lindsay and Jesse Kennedy finished fourth and fifth.
The second late model race, would come after a brief rain shower, and saw a total inversion that made things interesting.  In the end it was another first time winner on the season, but one that knew his way to Delaware Victory Lane from years past.

Shawn Thompson started on the pole and took the lead early with Andrew Gresel and Gary Elliott in tow.  The trio would run like that through the early portion of the race, which was slowed by two yellows.  The first was for an incident heading into turn one on the first lap as Doug Stewart’s hood flew up over the windshield and stacked up the entire field, including Drew Spicer and Jamie Ramsay who were both drilled from behind and ended up in a crumpled mess against the fence.

Jesse Kennedy would be next on a wild ride into turn one after contacting Todd Barless, Kennedy’s car spun around and hit the wall hard on the driver’s side, tearing away all the body work.  Kennedy said afterwards that he was okay, but admitted “I did get my bell rung.  It hit right on the door,” As he pointed to his wrecked Chevy.

By the halfway point, only Thompson remained in order at the front as Sheridan had arrived on the scene.  After Thompson held him off on the bottom and left the topside open, Sheridan finally went outside to make the move on lap 14, but after not being able to get around the long way, found that Dion Verhoeven had joined the battle and had position on the inside.  The trio battled up front for a number of laps, until the excitement with just a couple of laps to go.

Thompson was working lapped traffic with Verhoeven and Sheridan side by side behind him when he left a little hole in turns one and two.  Verhoeven, the wily veteran took advantage of Thompson’s miscue and took a look at the hole.  “I was getting ready to go, but if the lapped car on the bottom didn’t move, I would have lifted.”

While the former track champ was weighing his options, Sheridan got into the back of Thompson and sent him scooting towards the outside wall.  “They bumped,” continued Verhoeven.  And they left another foot or two and I went for it.”

Verhoeven would cut through the middle and take command of the race, going on to win his first Delaware feature of the year.  “We’ve been fast, but just haven’t had much luck here.  Tonight we got a win and the car is in one piece.”

Verhoeven’s other win this season was at a 150-lap special at Sauble Beach.  Sheridan lifted to avoid putting Thompson and himself in the wall and Robblee, Urlin and Scott Lindsay were able to bypass him on the inside finishing in that order behind Dion, while Sheridan wound up fifth at the finish.  Thompson saved his car but had fallen back to a 12th-place result.

When all is said and done in the points chase, Ron Sheridan should unofficially lead the standings by three points.

Paul Shipway led himself, Barry Newman and Jamie Cox to the front and tracked down early leader Tyler Hendricks.  Hendricks led the first 10 laps before Shipway was able to work his way by on the outside, but noticed that Hendricks, the freshman is getting tougher every week.  Shipway talked about the pass, “He [Hendricks] was doing a great job, and keeps getting better each week.  When I was alongside him, I really had to pinch him down so he didn’t get as good of a run off the corners. It was still a little slick on the top because of the rain, and was a handful trying to pass out there.”

After picking off Hendricks, Shipway left the carcass for Newman and Cox to carve up, and checked out.  With no yellows he was able to clear that battle and cruised to his fourth feature win of the season.  “We’re out of the points.  It’s between
Newman and Cox now.  But we came into tonight with three features left and wanted to win all of them.  We set a goal to win five this year, so even if we can get 50% of the next two features, we’ll hit that goal.”

Cox was able to place second, with Newman third, opening up Cox’s point lead from 12 to 13 following the night (unofficially), as Jamie chases down his eighth career division title.  Hendricks would up fourth with Dean Scott posting a top-five finish.

We are done indeed. The truck is pretty bent and twisted up. As far as the engine goes, we know that it's separated from the transmission but still not sure of the full extent of the damage there. Cab floor, dash and roof buckled, engine shifted and tilted, headers crushed, distributor jammed against firewall, steering column bent, etc., etc.

Jim, thank you, your offer is very much appreciated but I think that truck is toast. A few parts look salvageable, and the driveshaft, box, and rear end are probably OK but the frame itself is done. Not sure what the next step is, but it looks like this season is over for us.

Kathleen we are sorry about your car, but really glad that you weren't seriously hurt.

OK so everyone that you have ever pushed out of the way to get a spot... I guess they cant hold a line either ? The lane wasn't filled .. other wise you would have gotten to keep your position right? If you do nothing wrong you don't get put to the back do you ? No I didnt think so.

Im leaving it at that.
Thanks
