once that motor is opened up and rebuilt it should then fall under the built motor weight. these motors are getting bored to 30 over, heads are being milled, 5 angle valve job and i have heard from a good source that any after market piston because factory gm ones are to expensive. they are also getting rebalanced, better than what gm does. cams are being degreed in....
Ya, and the irony is built engines most places are not allowed Vortec heads. So even if they were put at built motor weight, they would still have an advantage. I guarantee if i could find a set of bolts, I could make 50hp on those without changing any hard parts besides pistons.
The guy running legal is at a serious disadvantage to "rebuilt" crates, especially since the stock crates valve float at 5900-6000. ???
+1
but we've gone over this over and over and over and............
And there are still guys that stand up in driver's meetings that ask the dumbest sealed crate motor questions - "why can't we just run our crate motors unsealed?"
These guys must really think tech and competitors are really stupid.
Perhaps we should invite Ricky Brooks up here to train promoter's why tech is important...
In the SS dividions I'm told rebuilding will not be allowed. Period. That being the said the only change that will be allowed is a timing chain upgrade as their seems to an issue the OEM component that is in the motors. Running these motors faster than the advertised recommended rpm may or may not be directly related to the timing chain failures. I can't see how rebuilding a crate is anything but a built motor program
