I think you'll like what you see, if it gets off the ground. I beleive there is no plans to usurp the regular division. The opposite is the goal I think. Not onlt involve the regular racers, but get cast and crew involved.
Pretty sure it will be short duration novelty events that can be slotted in. Like Shadow eluded to, it's been pushed along by threads on this site and I'm sure they'd like to see the ideas still coming in.
First off, I understand that racetracks are a business, that they are in the entertainment business, and that ultimately, at the end of the day, they have to turn a profit to stay in business. However...
This is in no way meant as a slag to any other racetrack or to the people who patronize them, but if I want to watch train races, etc. I know where to go (and do).
I have always considered Delaware a more 'serious' racetrack, with top-quality teams putting on a top-quality show, and that is one of the reasons I go there too.
It will be interesting to see what this new class is and if it impacts their reputation.
There is no reason why "serious " race tracks can't have a bit of fun. Back in the U.K. they run the novelty events at all of the top championship ovals. unfortunately there are only so many people that like racing purely for racings sake. These type of events are great because the 'Die Hards' can bring the rest of the family out, it also attracts people that wouldn't normally come to the track, and if the racing is that good, then that is what will get them interested in coming back! Well done Delaware! Great move!
good points silverstone...... I also think a lot of "die hards" like fun events to. I would conserdier myself a preety "die hard" race fan..and I love the "novety events" as well.
it is indeed a smart move on Delaware's part.
