Please read the following email I sent to CARS the citizens group opposed to the Canadian Motor Speedway, Also I encourage you to email your opinions to them as well: forteriecars@googlemail.comGood morning to the members of CARS,I would like to know where it is that all your members are currently employed? It would seem by your website you oppose the new speedway being built and that there is no need of the few jobs it will create. Your web site states it will only take about 4 or 5 people to run the place...please could you verify your source for this information. I would suggest that as part of your fact finding mission you take a trip to Martinsville Virginia or perhaps Bristol Tennesse. You will see first hand the huge economic impact and the amount of jobs that are created by such a facility. Maybe it would be in the best interest of everybody if the questions were posed to the citizens in that area if they would like to see the race tracks shut down. If they would OK with loosing the revenue. The church groups who are paid for handling parking duties clean up and other event related tasks. There are literally dozens of spinoffs that you've neglected to inform the patrons of your website. I beleive you to true in your convictions but hiding the truths and misstating the facts does nothing to further your cause, quite the opposite would be true. Contact Delaware Speedway 1640 Gideon Drive Delaware, Ontario and ask them about the requirements to opperate thier facility, and how they manage to co-exist peacefully next to a retirement home and a golf course. If the local merchants would mind giving up all that weekend traffic and the money that comes with it Of course the region will need to upgrade the infastructure in and around the facility and yes the taxpayers will foot the bill but how else do you propose growth and stimilus to such an area where none has existed for years? Do you not consider the multitude of other businesses that will utilize those same roads, water and sewer upgrades? The Niagara Region has suffered blow after blow of negative impact. Scheme after scheme have attempted to bring in the tourist dollars and yet the area still has not experienced the necessary growth to keep it viable. Does your group think perhaps more casinos or more murals on the walls will stop the economic deay in the area? It's disturbing to me why you obviously skew your facts to facts to suit your purpose and proclaim to be working in the communities best interest. This is a bonified, sustainable, growth opportunity to the entire region and you come up with a handful of decieving statstics on what evil lurks ahead if the race track locates itself in what is most likely the most dismal area in the community. Perhaps some ideas could be brought fourth to help negate unending flow of smart, educated, talented young people who relocate to other areas as the Region and especially the Welland, Fort Erie, Niagar Falls areas have nothing to offer them. One might want to reasearch further to see if the possibilities exist in the building of this project for more than few jobs like the gas-jockey and the gate attendent. Shame on you the self appointed watch dogs of the region to protect it's fine citizens form the evils of car racing and obviously the biggest facility in Canada of such a venue. How dare you take away those few jobs. Please state some viable facts, do you think garbage is the key issue here? Do you think you can opporite such a facility with four fulltime staff? I don't think CARS will get very far with its lobbying efforts. The group simply doesnt have the influence this program offers to the community and Canada in general. But unfortunately there are other problems.

When this was first announced and a thread about this track first started (I think in the Delaware section) I mentioned that the financing should be questioned as to how strong it is from Dubai and Kuwait. Well anyone who follows the financial news lately should know that Dubai banks have fallen apart like a house of cards over the past 45 days. We're talking hundreds of billions of dollars in bonds that the banks there (and in Kuwait) have asked to hold payment terms and that the central bank (government) have publicly stated they will not guarantee.

There has been *some* recovery and bailouts, but in general terms, credit facilities both in Dubai and Kuwait are essentially maxed out like a over extended credit card. Jeff Gordon has no money of his in this project and I don't think it will matter from his point of view.

I agree with Wesley things are pretty $hitty in land of oil funded insane frivalous wild projects. Meh who wants to downhill ski when it's 47 degrees in the shade? 😮
