I was at a camp grounds by humberstone and I never knew there was a race track their till I saw the lights on at night when they were racing and that was just a few KM's away from the track. To hear it 25KM away to would need to running maybe F1 cars there.
They could put a race track in my back yard but one small problem it wont fit. Man I need to buy a bigger piece of land.
We had a hall meeting many years ago about them building houses were my daughter went to day care and we lost but we moved on and the houses are not a big issue now. They might have even increased the property value in the area as these houses don't have big backyards like the ones around them and they sold for a pretty penny.
The mayor of Mississauga basically told us to piss off and stated how do you think Mississauga grew it to a debt free city.
If you look at the plans for the facility you will see it was a well thought out plan, probably unlike any other in North America. It sickens me too see knee jerk reactions by people eho do not look at the facts and look at the plan before they decimate a plan. What sickens me even more is that they presume to know more than they do and they profress the pro side is lying.
Somebody tell me how you run a place that big with 4 people
I can't even begin to imagine how much spinoff business would be necessary to support the operation, working your way down the line to the actual racers. Heaven forbid fifty thousand fans show up looking for motel rooms and places to eat and paying taxes on every nickel they spend.
Take a drive around the area and you will see what the naysayers are crying to protect, it looks liks scrub land and it's full coyotes and wild dogs (my brother lives right next to it). Rabies issues all the time from animals crossing the border. Yah it's a real shan-gri-la
Couple in the fact there are no jobs except cleaning rooms and even the restaurants are struggling. Of course they could always open more casinos and bingo halls ;D
Somebody tell me how you run a place that big with 4 people .........The gateman, the flagman, the firstaid man and the farmer sponsored by EI
People are ignorant, plain and simple. While my opinion is biased to racing, these people need a reality check. Construction jobs, maintaining a facility that big, hotel/restaurant business, camping, the list goes on. These people need a reality enema.
how many events would me held at the speedway in a year, 3 or 4. Read there "thanks for support" on the front page, there saying the town and the region are for it, so lets hope it keeps going that way. Mabye they should look at Infineon Speedway, its smack dab in the middle of Californias wine making region.
I hope everybody shares their thoughts and comments with the wonderful members of CARS, They so far have neglected to reply to my email so far
