He dumped the 8. At least that is what he got dinged for. He may have another version.

"dumped" is pretty harsh for what happened. And besides, getting the black for that entails going to the back of the line....not being held in pit lane.

I just wondered, the stop and go official asked him if he knew what he'd done. Shipway must have been there voluntarily or he's 12 and was serving a time out.

i wondered how many people would notice the snafu name  there are several snafu cars still floating around and some that have been retired.  gotta love the sense of humour.

I was there both nights with a buddy of mine. We're open wheel guys,so we made the drive down from Hamilton(and surrounding area)I like the facilty alot,I do wish it was a little closer...However,Sammut's wreck on Friday night was one of the worst SuperMod wrecks I have seen in a long time. When I saw him bouncing end over end backwards,I knew it was bad...Sauders car was'nt that badly damaged...Ordway's incident atthe end probably made a nice night go very bad, however,he was stout on Saturday night,so It could'nt have been that bad...

After the Friday night show,we went down to the pits to get a look at the cars...I got to Sammut's pit...That car was completely destroyed...The nerf bars on the rear protecting the fuel cell were completely severed and pushed up into the cell. The entire front suspension and axle were gone, and were in 3 pieces...The breathers on the left side valve covers were cracked and shoved back towards the centre of the car.The rad wad damaged beyond repair. And I got a look at the chassis from the nose back to the rear...I called my buddy over and showed him...It was bent like a banana!

Total chassis write off!

I overheared Mark say that he thinks something was broken in the centre part of the chassis and that the rest of the season might be done for,as well...It's a shame because he won the Hy-Miler in that car 2 weeks ago and I thought their season was turning around. He thought he might get a chassis together by Oswego, but he was'nt sure about the engine.I heared him say that he might not have got out of the throttle fast enough once the wheels left the ground and it may have overrev'd it.

It was nice to see Lichty run as well as he did...He seems to be catching on after a few years, and now with Chris Perley limiting his schedule,Mike might be on the verge of an ISMA title.Too bad ne could'nt catch Rob Sumers, but Summers caught fire half way through that 50 lapper and pretty much checked out on everyone.I could tell Lichty picked up a push and he realy could'nt handle Summers.

I'll be back next year,if ISMA comes back(I'm sure they will),and here's to a few more Canadian dates. Here's to the folks at Cayuga getting their act together and getting that facility up and running.I like the Super's at Delaware, but they can really open it up at Cayuga!!!!
