SPEEDWAY PARTNERS TAKE APC 300 TO THE NEXT LEVEL Sponsor Coalition Adds Over $12,000.00 in Prizing to the Great Canadian Race! August 15, 2007For Immediate Release John Houghtoninfo@delawarespeedway.comDelaware Speedway PR McColl Racing Enterprises, United Floors, Restoration Masters, Auto Trim Design, Larry Knott Fibreglass and APC / CANUSA have partnered together to drastically ramp up the prizing for the APC 300. The new prizing will heavily benefit drivers who may not win the race, but still have a good showing: - One prize up for grabs will be a bare Late Model chassis from McColl Racing Enterprises. The chassis is being presented in conjunction with Restoration Masters & United Carpet. The approximate value of this prize is over $5,500.00. The chassis is the primary component in the construction of a new Late Model car. - Larry Knott Fibreglass Fabrication is offering up $1,000.00 gift certificate. Knott Fibreglass is responsible for many of the fiberglass bodies seen on the race track. - AutoTrim Design will be offering $1,000.00 decaling package; AutoTrim Design is responsible for many of the decaling on the race cars and signs around the facility. The best part? These prizes will be given by random draw of the drivers who start the final feature. This means that any driver who shows up to race in the event will have the opportunity to get in on the prizes, not just the winners! Furthermore, APC will give every driver who attempts to qualify a $100.00 gift certificate to be used at any APC store. If 40 cars arrive for the APC 300 this could be a potential additional $4,000.00 available to competitors. “This is a fantastic opportunity for our racers to get some prizing who might not win the race.” said race director Jeff Wilcox, “It’s very exciting to see companies getting together to help out on these events in a way that directly benefits the competitors.” Not to leave the top finishers out, on top of the $10.000.00 to win, the top 3 finishers will receive a commemorative customized APC 300 bar fridge; a way to remember a Great Canadian Race for a long time! “This is an example of what speedway supporters can achieve by coming together,” said Luke Ramsay of APC / CANUSA. “We want to make this the super bowl of Late Model racing in Canada. This is the big one. We want the best guys from all over putting the best against the best.” The coalition of sponsors may be able to do just that: all told, the increase is over $12,000.00 above the original purse bringing the new purse total to $47,750.00 in money and prizing available directly to the competitors. With prizing spread throughout the field, anyone with a Late Model car will be taking a serious look at this race. The APC 300 is the crowing jewel of Late Model racing in Canada. Held annually at Delaware Speedway the event is rich with history and is the top Late Model racing prize in the country. The event is the culmination of the Great Canadian Race Weekend taking place August 31-September 2. The APC 300 will run on Sunday September 2. The event settles both the coveted Delaware Speedway track championship and the Weekend Warrior Series Cup in the first two segments. The final 150 laps is a no-holds barred pedal to the metal race to the finish! Weekend pass pricing has been announced for the weekend: the pass will be just $45 and will give general admission to all three days. The invader race has the potential to be more of a caution-fest rather than the Delaware points event...

I dunno. Both events were sleepers lst year IIRC. The s* didn't hit the fan till the final race.

I don't think anyone will be getting too stupid in the 75's.

But yeah. best case for me would be if the 300 was wide open...nothing to do with the Delaware points. Time trials + odds go in one race, evens go in the other. 50-50 and 200. That'd be my ideal.

I get what they try to do with the event-within-the-event, and I don't hate it myself, but I think if they want to have the race achieve the status of a Canadian LM showcase event, they kinda have to drop the "Delaware only" portion. As it stands right now, its really weighted toward Delaware cars, once you look at how the final 10-12 spots are determined.

Provisionals for the final 150-lap feature, if necessary, will go to registered Delaware Speedway competitors with 80% attendance in the current year, current WWS points leaders from other participating WWS tracks and active (i.e., registered in the current year) past Delaware Speedway and WWS champions.

I'd find that a little off putting if I was a visitor.

But...I like it the way it is now too. Its a small thing really.

Does anybody know who won the APC300 today as nothing has been posted anywhere ( Here or Delaware site ) and does anybody no who won the Mccoll give away

Best late model race I've attended in years. Think there were 42 cars in the pits. A few were converted LLMs but most was top notch equipment. Kennedy was the class of the field all day. Sheridan managed to win the Delaware 75 while the top three in the invader 75 were Kennington, Vanderwyst and Mercer. I'll let shadow file his report with more of the details as I'm sure he can tell you more than I can. Big shout out to Mercer and crew for a well deserved top 10. BTW Kennedy also won the draw for the $1000 decal package. MacDonnell won the McColl chassis and Gibson from Flamboro won the Knott fibreglass body.
