Super DIRTcar Big-Block Series, Patriot Sprints and Seaway-Lussier Sportsman all together this Sunday at Cornwall Motor Speedway!
Cornwall, Ont – Thursday, August 20, 2015 – Martin Bélanger – Cornwall Motor Speedway will present his biggest event of the 2015 season with the Super DIRTcar Big-Block Series, the second visit of the Patriot Sprints, the Seaway-Lussier Sportsman and also the lone visit of the Vintage group, this great night of racing will be sponsored by Seaway GM and Mel Valade Backhoe Services.
After being victim of inclement weather in late June, promoter Raymond Lavergne was able to negotiate a rain date for the Super DIRTcar Big-Block Series. The Big-Block stars that includes recent Albany-Saratoga winner Jimmy Phelps, point’s leader Matt Sheppard, Billy Decker, Danny Johnson, Brett Hearn, Tim Fuller, Pat Ward, Billy Dunn, Larry Wight, Stewart Friesen, Pete Britten, and along with series regulars, we can expect to see Mario Clair, Steve Bernard, Yan Bussière, David Hebert, J-F Corriveau, Tim Kerr and others to be added to the Big Block ranks. This event will attract a quality field and should be the biggest one so far in 2015 at the speedway.
The Patriot Sprints will make their second stop of the season at Cornwall, in July, Steve Poirier had collected the win over Lee Ladouceur and Ohsweken Speedway promoter, Glenn Styres. A solid field of over 20 cars is expected for this group.
The Seaway-Lussier Sportsman that has some great momentum over the last few seasons will also be on the schedule with a 50-lap event. Martin Pelletier leads the way in the championship with a 40-point lead over Shane Pecore. After 4 races completed, the series have averaged 35 cars at each track the series has visited.
The Eastern Ontario Vintage Group will also be at speedway this Sunday with their only visit in 2015 at Cornwall.
With several new drivers joining the Sportsman rank and success of the Novice Sportsman class at other track, the Cornwall Motor Speedway decided to add this category for the rest of the season, a 12-lap feature will be added along with a heat race. Procedure are available on the website. In order that have this class running this Sunday, a minimum of 6 cars will be needed, if we have less than 6, drivers will be able to attempt to qualify for the Series race.
Admission costs will be 35$ for adults in general admission, 18$ for seniors and only 2$ for kids 16 years and under. Pit entry costs will be 45$. The gates will open at 2pm to allow hauler parking and general admission gates will open at 4pm with the first qualifying race at 7pm as time trials for Modified and Sportsman will start at 6:30pm.
