Brian McDonald wins first feature of 2015 at Cornwall Motor Speedway!
Cornwall, Ont – Sunday, August 30, 2015 – Martin Bélanger – It was Fan Appreciation night at Cornwall Motor Speedway on a busy night with a full program for 4 regular divisions along with the annual visit of the SpeedSTR and Slingshot as Budweiser was sponsoring the evening.
Brian McDonald takes the lead in the 30-lap Bandit Motorsports Modified Feature. McDonald had Mario Clair and Chris Raabe in the mix, the race picked up a good rhythm as Raabe passed Clair for second and got closer with 10 laps to go. McDonald is able to keep is lead and wins his first feature of the season over Raabe and Clair completes the podium. Gabriel Richer won the Non-Winner Challenge Race.
The 25-lap Wheeler-Forget Royal Lepage Realty was the final event of the evening with Gabriel Cyr the early leader over Scott McGill and Steve Morris. Cyr in lead with 5 laps down as Morris took second while Joey Ladouceur joined the lead pack. Cyr lost control on lap 14 and lost his chance to capture a win. On the restart, Ladouceur wasted no time and got the lead. Ladouceur never looked back and won his second feature of the season over Morris and Dylan Evoy who came for 17th to complete the podium. Jessica Power won the Non-Winner Challenge with Junior Delormier capturing the first Novice Sportsman feature race.
In the special 35-lap Alexandria Home Hardware Pro-Stock feature, Dave Bissonnette grabbed the early lead over George Renaud and PJ Peters. The first 10-lap went on quickly. Several cautions occurred in the second portion. Bissonnette was able to build a comfortable lead in the last fifteen laps and he won his second feature of the season.
Pierre Hebert wasted no time and took the lead in the 20-lap SpeedSTR event, while Hebert was running in front, Francis Methot was able to make his way up to second as both drivers had a good battle. Hebert was able to finish in front of Methot as Isabelle Manny completed the podium. Gabriel Lussier in the senior slingshot and Donovan Lussier in the junior slingshot were the other winners.
Riley McMonagle was the early leader in the 12-lap Polar Sound DJ Services and led the first 7 laps as he gave the lead to Chris James with Mike Gaucher in second and JF Page in third. James and Gaucher went into a great battle as James was able to win his first feature of the year over Gaucher and Page.
One of the biggest events of the year next Sunday as the DIRTcar Triple Crown will be presented with the initial race of the DIRTcar 358-Modified Series in conjunction with the final round of the Bandit Motorsports Canadian Nationals, the DIRTcar Sportsman and Pro-Stock Series will also be run along with a regular night for both Semi-Pro and Mini-Stock.
