Cayuga has been tried and tried to run as a 5/8 paved oval and other then Bob Slack and maybe Wayne Conroy no one has been able to make a go of it .
Heres the solution .

i may be nieve but i think cayuga could make some money with an investment in the marketing department. Canada's biggest oval track with all that history but i haven't heard or seen any promotion in the media. I had no idea if it was still open. I had monster jam jammed down my throat on a bunch of media and i went to it. First time i heard an ad i thought about it but wasn't sold, then i heard the ad again and again and again and i wanted to see it. We all saw cayuga when the cup stars came out it was packed and i had a great time. i had hopes for the future of the joint....
i really don't know what's happening there to say they are bad businessmen but i think someone could make that place profitable if the money was aimed in the right places.
Promotion was a large issue large year and I think they are making strides to get this rectified this year. I went to every race they had last year and felt bad for them with the attedance figures.
I don't thinks its fair to spread rumours about money and the track in this forum, that should be left to the individual parties involved, if it is the case. What track of that size and scale can make money without some major events and attendance. Just listen to all of the talk in the US about tracks having problems without CUP dates. The OSS race(s) I watched last year were a joke, there were cars on the highway out front putting on a better show.
Maybe Bob Slack can convince his grandson to talk to Bruton Smith to talk it over....
I'm sort of holding my breath waiting for the prices for the ARCA show as I think a lot of locals will use the ARCA admission price last year at Toledo as a comparison.
One thing that baffles me is the how the track (perhaps unknowingly) has become a participant in the supermodified santioning body wars--- that is ISMA vs MSA vs Oswego. Looks like ISMA is not a part of the Oswego Classic weekend this season and have booked a show at Cayuga on Aug 31 directly opposite the Oswego Classic (Labour day weekend is early this year). I know one is wing vs non wings-but it will likely split up the driver and fan base badly.
Why shouldn't they talk about it as people did pay for 2007 season tickets and for it to be canceled. Offering people free races in 2008 is nice but things change and it should be up to the people who bought the year pass what they want.
This is what the site is about talking about what is happening with racing and tracks. No one said there this is the facts.
As long as no one is attacking an individual this message is OK.
Also why is it ok for you to take a shot at the OSS. That was uncalled for and I think that was attempt to change the topic. Please stick to the topic at hand.
Thanks
