I'm going to assume that ISMA will bring alot more than the contingent they had this afternoon.Assuming some of the MSA guy have there passport stuff in order,and Ryan Litt is not tied up with the AVSS or USAC that weekend,20 cars would be fairly easy to achieve.
Frankly,I find this passport problem bogus.Everyone knew this would take effect at some time in the future.I have no sympathy for the competitors of "International"series who don't prepare proper identification for their participants.It shows a certain level of ignorance and complacency towards the fans of those series.
On one hand we have the AVSS,and potentially ISMA,situation where this cop out has been used.On the other hand,I was at Ohsweken last Friday for the ASCS Northern Summer Nationals and there were 37 360 sprints in the pits.Over 1/3 of the field was from the US.I'm simply not buying this passport stuff at all anymore.It comes down to laziness,I'm afraid,because most of these series have had ample warning about border identification.
Watson Roadster Delaware specials are good.As for your comment reguarding car count as you were looking for MSA series cars to show MSA is running Friday Aug 7 in Toledo Ohio and donot run Aug 8th this could help the count for the Saturday show.Reguarding Ryan Litt if he is running USAC they have a race Aug 6th in Oswego NY and then on Friday Aug 7th AVSS is running at Dixie Speedway (Michigan).Again by looking at the schedule he would be avaiable Aug 8 this is if he is running these 2 cars.As for the passport thing alot of Americans donot have passports and the only ones that seem to have them are ones that fly.Talked to a modified dirt driver from the U.S. who was at South Buxton a couple weeks ago and asked him about the passport issue and he said he had his but his crew did not have any but did not seem concerned about going back to the States.He did say alot of drivers in racing donot have them.He was from Ohio and said he knew of a couple more drivers were scheduled to go to SBR that night but changed their minds because of this issue(passports).As for drivers of these International Series being ignorant & complacent it seems they donot care if they have to leave the U.S. to race.If it means to miss maybe 2 races that are scheluded to race in Canada so be it.The ownus is on the travelling series and the track that brings them up to be sure they have a good car count.Lets hope there is a good car count 20 plus would be great but I maybe pushing that a bit especially when MSA is running on Friday.

Well, from what I understand, the AVSS has had crummy counts everywhere they've gone this year, including stateside. Only reason they've fielded full fields in a couple of places is because they shared the races with another sanctioning body. (honestly, I don't really buy the "passport problems" thing....but they gotta say something.)
ISMA on the other hand has consistently been getting 20-28 cars stateside this year. (checked the ISMA results page) With the the Delaware show being a doubleheader...anyone concerned with points will be there...and no winged shows anywhere else. Won't say there'll be 28 cars, but we should have more than showed up at Cayuga.
Besides, One guy said that quite a few cars had been damaged at Oswego the night before, and I'd tend to beleive that reason. Unlike most full bodied cars, when Supermodifieds crash, the damage is generally substantial....you can't necessarily spend the overnight merely pounding out the dents to have it ready for the next day.
Shadow - I believe you are right - a number of Supers
were damaged at Oswego. Â Even the ones that arrived left
at 2am or so according to 1 team I was talking to, so anyone
with any significant damage probably just gave up.
I'm not sure why they scheduled the race the morning
after another similar show, with a 4 or 5 hour tow in between.
Same thing with the CVM - at least 4 or 5 would have been
there if they hadn't wrecked at Flamboro the night before
(38, 64 and 46, 16, ...)
I heard that the AVSS were cancelled from Saturday since
they only had 5 or 6 cars committed to showing up.
Actually, i thought the crowd counts weren't bad compared
to some of last year's Cayuga crowds, although I expected
more people at an ISMA show. Remember the crowds at
a previous show a few years back for the NASCAR Modified tour?
I believe I counted just over 100 people in the stands at the
start of the feature. I think there was about 1000 or so
on Sunday (i'll update this count when i've finished working
on my pics and look at a view of the stands).
OK let's get the facts straight on a few things here before rumours start flying around...
The Oswego race on Saturday night was delayed by rain at least twice...they didn't finish the feature until nearly 1 a.m. It was not an ISMA points race, and a lot of the cars that ran Cayuga Sunday didn't even go to Oswego on Saturday...Only 6 cars that were at Cayuga ran the night before at Oswego.
I don't really think the race at Oswego had a negative effect on the car count...The 55 car of Rich Reid that came to Cayuga would not have been there if they had not been out of Ohio and racing at Oswego on Saturday. ISMA was missing some of their franchise cars (they are allowed to miss one race and still maintain their franchise status), and only one Ohio car showed up...those were the real problems.
Also, the ISMA race was scheduled first, BEFORE they put this King of Wings deal together at Oswego. It was originally scheduled to be a regular MSA/Oswego challenge race.
Ryan Litt will not be running the USAC race at Oswego August 6...It's a Silver Crown race. He doesn't run in that series. He likely will be at Dixie on the 7th with AVSS. As for a Super, not sure if/when that car is going to be ready.
ASCS Summer Nationals at Ohsweken - while it may be true that 37 cars were there and 17 were Americans, that still leaves 20 Canadian cars...something ISMA and the Supermodified division does not have. It's unfair to compare the two.
