I was watching "Back in the Day" the other night, and Petty (I think) won with 2 laps on the field.
Anyone know the last Cup race where the winner had the field at least 1 lap down?
North Wilkesboro, October 1994.
Geoffrey Bodine wins with a one lap margin over Terry Labonte, Rick Mast and Rusty Wallace.
I doubt it will happen ever again.

Sadly, I can't imagine it ever happening again either.
These days, it seems NASCAR gets nervous if someone has more than half a straightaway lead. There was a time when it was actually about the race . . .
They never had the lucky dog back in the day. I can see NASCAR's concerns about people racing back to the start/finish line on a caution. It is dangerous.
