Going from the pole to 43rd starting position in the Nation Wide starting line up there is almost 3 seconds difference and thats far too much.  John Bornman will be lapped about every 10 laps going by their qualifying speed , so what really is the point of them being out there ?
CART had this problem in the mid 80s and implemented a minimum qualifying speed based on the pole winners speed and its time for Nascar to do the same . From 38th on back they are over two seconds slower then the front runners and that would have been a good place to cut the line up off . Luckily most of these guys are start and parkers and should be loading their cars before they are lapped .
