I doubt Jacques is done for good. At the very least we'll probably see him back for Talladega and the road courses, assuming he can't round up sponsorship. If he can find some, I have no doubt he'll be back, assuming the 27 doesn't DNQ every race from here on out (although that didn't stop them with the 36 in '07). I don't think Mr. Davis is making the wisest decision in putting Skinner and Benson in the 27, as they need to concentrate on their truck programs and get as much as they can as early as they can. Ideally, they'd find a journeyman driver who can qualify (someone like Kevin Lepage) so they can hold serve with the top-35 cars and not be too-too far out of it. Then again, as the folks from Dodge can tell you, it's not as if Bill Davis isn't above making really stupid decisions....
As far as Franchitti, I believe his Dodge sponsorship was for the 500 only. He has Fastenal sponsorship for Nationwide, but I don't think he has any sponsors specifically for himself in the 40 car. Depending on how the next few weeks shake out (especially after Hornish didn't suck on Sunday) I'd imagine Dario (or Mr. Ashley Judd, your shoice) might be the next person on the chopping block. He's not exactly known for his oval skills, and has been virtually invisible on-track so far, save for demolishing someone @ Memphis last year.
target is listed as Dario's sponsor, i imagine chip gets one check to divvy up how he wants between nascar,irl,and grand am. i to think jv will be back it will take sometime to distant himself from his old manger, still think some Canadian company should step up behind him or carp, tough to do with the stupid 35 lock nascar has.
JV is to hold a press conference tomorrow to announce his future plans. Supposedly the 24 hrs. at Le mans and possibly the nationwide race at Montreal and a part time arca.
