I would hazzard a quess the goal for this organization is for now to make races  , after missing shows last season and the season before.  that being the case they are doing a good job of it right now . although not finishing on the lead lap  they are finishing  races and to mee that could only lead to progress.

I would think that with all of the talk about the Nationwide (Busch) cars heading to a COT program next year (2009), I would guess they will work with what they have and replace what they need only when needed.

I am sure they will be looking at used 08 COT chassis is they are a true option for them as Nationwide compettitors in 2009. (I don't know about the current 2008 COT cars however up until 2007 the Cup Cars have always been 110" wheelbase and the Nationwide (Busch) cars have always been 105"). So if the 2008 COT cars are still 110" wheelbase and Nascar does not change the wheelbase rule of the Nationwide
cars in 2009, they still may be quite different. I remember conversations on television where they were discussing that same thing and they were still deciding some of those issues. I guess we will have to wait and see. If I was a betting man......I would bet they will be the same next year.....from one to another.

I think Nascar realizes they need to do things that are more cost effective for the small guy like the MacDonalds and other single car teams who are attempting to compete with the mega teams on a week in week out basis to keep them in the sport.

What do you think?

From the NASCAR site DJ is 33rd in points out of the 32 drivers ahead of him approx 18 drivers are regulars from the NASCAR SPRINT SERIES.Which would mean he could be in the top 20 of the old BUSCH Series. This is when that series was for upcoming stars not for the big money boys who want to run the whole NASCAR show now.Personally I think DJ is doing a great job with what he has to race with.Keep it going DJ all of Southwestern Ontario is watching you.

if you look closely at the points for DJ, they are missing a race, as they have him listed as only being in 3 races.  So tack on another 60-70 points and he's up another 4 or so spots .. a decent showing at bristol this weekend and some luck to get him inside the top 30 in points, and he'll be locked into every race for the year

as far as the goals for the team go:

1. Qualify for all 35 races in the NASCAR Nationwide Series

2. Finish in the top 30 in NASCAR Nationwide Series point standings

3. Complete 90% of all laps for the 2008 NASCAR Nationwide Series

4. Provide the best service to our sponsorship partners and customers

thats from macdonaldmotorsports.com .... so i think there well within reach of completing all those goals.  But on the other hand, you can only bend up so many cars week after week, before you run out of equiptment... luckily, all the damage so far has been superficial and not requiring new clips, or worse

Not quite. They can still drop out of the top-30 if they have a bunch of crappy runs later on. Unlikely, given the number of full-time cars, but possible all the same.

And another thing to remember is that as the series returns to tracks for the 2nd time, the team should do better as they have an increase in track experience.  Thus if the team continues to rise in the standings their confidence level will also increase, hopefully leading to stronger performances.

On a side note why is it that everytime they post the "current" series standings they always have DJ entered in one less race then he really has run?  This just means he will always be misrepresented in the standings since the points for 1 race are always missed being counted.

It might have been that they didn't get there registration fee in on time. If you do not have it in by the date they say you don't get points for that event, and the inspection fee goes up.  At lest Thats what the entry blank says.
