Ontario Dirt Late Models Return to Brighton Speedway

This weekend was the return of full-fendered, extreme horse powered, Super Late Models as they  converged on the 1/3 mile clay oval called Brighton Speedway.  Presented by Hubert Kerr Construction & John’s Equipment, fans were entertained by the fast action of the five race series that is headed by Debbie  Brush of Blenheim, ON.  Everyone was especially pleased to see track favourite Tim Kerr from Picton behind the wheel during Canada's only touring series for dirt late model racers, the Ontario Dirt Late Models, visit.

“Racing at Brighton Speedway is like coming home for the Kerr family.  We used to spend every Saturday Night here, and couldn’t turn down the chance to connect with old friends, get behind the wheel of a fast dirt racer, and be part of the Super Feature Night.  It was a blast!!” , said Tim after the event.

Also racing on Saturday September 19th were the regular FAB 4 Brighton Classes and with double points on the line every driver in the running for the division championship hit the surface with speed on their mind, and a vision of the black and white in their hand.

The vision came to life for Kyle Sopaz (#12) of Brighton in the Bill’s Johns Comp 4 Division and Doug Anderson  #72, of Trenton in the Brighton Automotive Pro Stocks.  Taking the checker in the Picture This Pure Stock Feature was #46 of Warren Mowat from Trenton.  The Danny Reid Memorial 50 Lap race for the Bainer’s Radiator Canadian Modified Division,  was claimed by Charlie Sandercock (#57) of Trenton, but following a post race protest, the trophy was presented to Dan Ferguson (#11) of Picton.

The next race event is the Applefest Shootout, presented by Cool 100, Lucas Oil, Benson Auto Parts & Imagefactor.ca on September 25th & 26th.

Be sure join us Friday, September 25th for the Smylie's Independent Grocer & the Holiday Inn presentation of the Lucas Oil Challenge Cup for DIRTcar, the Dirt Track Digest All Star Race & the Final Points Night for the Quinte Towing Stingers & the Brighton Automotive Pro Stocks.  Also included are the qualifying races for the Bainer’s Radiator Canadian Modifieds, Bill’s Johns Comp 4 & Picture This Pure Stocks. All drivers and crews are invited to the “Pit Party” at Harry's Place following the races.  Green Flag flies at 7:30pm.

Be there Saturday, September 26th when Benson AutoParts presents the DIRTcar 358 Modified Shootout (Syracuse Qualifier), and the Lucas Oil Clash for Cash, plus final point races for the  Canadian Modifieds, Comp 4 & Pure Stocks.  Prostocks will hit the track for the final race of the Duel in the Dirt, Merrittville vs Brighton. Green Flag flies t 7pm..
