Electro Cables and Van Zuylen Tire present Southern Ontario Sprints at Brighton Speedway this Saturday
By Clayton Johns
BRIGHTON (July 8, 2015) – The Southern Ontario Sprints return to Brighton Speedway on Saturday night for the seventh round of their 2015 season as part of a powerful night of racing presented by Electro Cables and Van Zuylen Tire. The Vanderlaan Building Products RUSH Pro Late Models, Bainer’s OilGARD Canadian Modifieds, and Brighton Automotive Pro Stocks will also be in action.
Brown Brings Point Lead to Brighton
Brantford, Ont. pilot Mitch Brown holds the Southern Ontario Sprints point lead following the strength of his first career win at South Buxton Raceway last Saturday. Browns 63-point over defending champion Glenn Styres look big, but is thin in the grand scheme. Both drivers have two wins this season and will have their hands full trying to earn number three against the rest of the current top-five, which includes Keith Dempster, Chris Jones, and Jamie Turner. Charlie Sandercock will pull double duty with both the SOS and his RUSH Pro Late Model.
Sandercock Holds RUSH Pro Late Lead
Sandercock’s fourth Brighton Speedway win of the season combined with Corey Earl’s 10th-place finish last week handed the point lead to the Trenton, Ont. driver. Earl will be eager for a rebound performance this week. Sandercock will need another strong finish to maintain the 70-point advantage over Earl’s No.11. Phil Potts, Adam Turner and Steve Baldwin complete the current top-five.
Ferguson On Top of Canadian Modifieds
Dan Ferguson’s perfect trifecta last week vaulted the No.11 to the point lead in the tightly contested Bainer’s OilGARD Canadian Modified division. Ferguson is just 60 notches ahead of Andrew Hennessy on the point ladder with more than half the season remaining on the schedule.
Doug O’Blenis remains focused on his first division championship since 2009 and is a mere 80 points behind Ferguson. Mike Lucas currently sits fourth in the standings while Curtis King completes the current top-five. Every driver has added incentive to win this week in the second round of the Rona Trenton Triple Crown.
Ramsay Gripping Pro Stock Lead
After Doug Anderson suffered a mechanical failure last week, Justin Ramsay’s point lead grew to 190 markers. There’s more than enough time for any driver to erase the deficit. Ramsay has made the task difficult so far with five wins so far this season. Leslie Mowat remains in the hunt while third in the standings ahead of Jamie Marshall and Wade Purchase.
