Action Packed Schedule Set for 2011 at Brighton Speedway
Brighton Speedway staff and management are truly excited as the schedule is released for the upcoming 2011 season at the 1/3rd mile dirt oval. This season will continue to host some of the most exciting weekly racing around. Featuring Brighton Speedway's five marquee divisions; the Vanderlaan Building Supplies Pro Late Models, the Bainer's Radiator Canadian Modifieds, the Brighton Automotive Pro Stocks, the Bill's John's Comp 4 and the Quinte Towing 6 Cylinder Stingers, plus numerous special events on the track to keep the fans coming back all season long!
Brighton Speedway will kick things off on Saturday, May 7th with the Coca Cola Full Throttle Energy Drink Season Opener. Admission for this event is only $2.00 with a donation to the food bank. In the past we have successfully gathered over 3,000 lbs of food for the local food bank at this event and we hope to as successful again in 2011.
May really starts to heat things up on the dirt as Vanzuylen Tire and Rock 107 present the first of 6 appearances for the Southern Ontario Sprint Cars. The SOS Sprints will be back once a month until September when they will crown there champion on Labour Day Sunday!
June will start off with the ever popular Fan Appreciation presented by Dibbits Excavating. As school draws to an end near the end of June, action will heat up with the Leon's of Trenton School Bus races circle the track in their full size busses. On Sunday Jun 19th, Hotch's Auto Parts will present the Father’s Day of Destruction featuring a select few of our events from Eve of Destruction. The month will close out with a visit from the Eastern Ontario Vintage Stock Car Club and the Gord's Water Vantastics all presented by Deerhaven Farm and Garden as Victory Motorcycles presents Riders Night. Deerhaven Farm and Garden and Victory Motorcycle will be giving away free admission to every rider that shows up to Brighton Speedway on their motorcycle on June 25th.
The action continues in July as we Celebrate Canada's birthday with the annual Brighton Automotive Canada Day Championships featuring the Custom Carts Pole Awards for all four divisions along with extra laps, money and excitement all night long capped off by a spectacular fireworks display compliments of Mystical Distributing. Demolition is back on the schedule a week later when the Dekeyser Boys of Dekeyser Excavating present the Excavator Olympics along with round 3 of the SOS sprints on July 9th. But don’t fret there’s more to come when the horse power return’s just two short weeks later with the rumble of Super Late Models, the 800HP Ontario Dirt Late Models come to BSP for a full night of high octane action. And the month closes off with a prelude to Applefest as the DIRTcar Modified Sportsman make their first of two visits to the track on July 30th alongside the Canadian Modifieds, Pro Stock,Comp 4 and the only Figure 8 race of the season!
The heat of summer brings us into the hot nights of August and the racing on the 1/3rd mile clay oval continues to heat up as we start the month out with Rapid Rad and Star 93.3 showcasing round 4 of the Southern Ontario Sprints on August 6th! Hot Summer Nights BBQ takes place on August 13th where fans can get a beer and a burger for just 5 bucks from 5 pm to 7pm before the races start! Spectator 1 on 1, Fan Appreciation, Mechanics Races, Mini Vans and the Hotch's Auto Parts 30 Lap Enduro all hit the track on Saturday nights throughout August!
Labour Day Weekend kicks off a tremendous month of September at Brighton Speedway that’s full of BIG events from Labour Day to Applefest! Labour Day Saturday will start the month of money off with ROCK 107, Custom Carts, Lucas Oil and Hutchinson Fuels presenting the Southern Ontario Sprints, Canadian Modifieds, Pro Stocks, Comp 4 and Stingers. We are right back at it the next day with a race car show and shine, kid's club carnival, lawn tractor pulls and more at 1 pm on Sunday. Then at 6pm on Sunday we launch into Topless Night on the Oval! Not only will the southern Ontario Sprints have their season championship but they will also compete is a special Wingless event. And to continue with the topless theme, Humber Nurseries will present the Late Models topless as these cars take their roofs off for a night of competition!
The following week Maestro's Painting Contractors presents the always crowd pleasing Leon's of Trenton School Bus Races along with Late Models, Canadian Modifieds, Comp 4 and Stingers! September 17th marks the first ever event for Brighton Speedway as John's Equipment presents the 50 lap Danny Read Memorial $2,000.00 to win Canadian Modified/IMCA Event as well as the McDougall Insurance and Financial 65 Lap $5,000.00 to win Great Crate Race! This race will be the highest paying Late Model Event in Brighton Speedway History!
September 23rd and 24th will see the return of the Applefest Shootout Weekend presented by Cool 100 and sponsored by Imagefactor.ca, Goodyear Auto Service, Lucas Oil, 1000 Island RV and Smylie’s Independent Grocers. Friday night will mark the first ever DIRTcar Sportsman Modified Super Dirt Car Series Event along with Vintage cars, Mod Lites, Pro Stocks, Comp 4 and Stingers. Saturday night will feature the Goodyear Auto Service 358 DIRT Modified Applefest Shootout presented by Imagefactor.ca and Lucas Oil. Alongside the 358's will be round 2 for the Mod Lites, Late Models, Canadian Modifieds and the finally the Pro Stock Duel In the Dirt between Brighton Speedway and Merrittville Speedway. This event always proves to provide some of the best racing in the province and is a must see on any dirt race fans schedule.
October will host just a single event; however this event just happens to be one of the biggest of the season with a capacity crowd in 2010 and events that kept people on the edge of their seats. Presented by Lange and Fetter the October 1st Eve of Destruction features a 100 lap Hotch's Auto Parts Monster Enduro, a Junior Enduro, Ladies Enduro, Trailer Race, Flag Pole Race, Gauntlet Race, the Brighton Recycling Demo Derby and anything else we can do to DESTROY STUFF! Last year Track Promoter Mark Rinaldi jumped a full size school bus through a motor home! We will have to wait and see what he has in store to destroy this year.
Once again Brighton Speedway is making it a family ordeal and keeping your wallet happy at the same time! Adult tickets for a weekly show are just $10.00 and a family can enter the races on most Saturday nights for just $25.00, which includes family sized popcorn. An affordable action packed, pedal to the metal racing filled night out for everyone.
