What if the purses being offered by wesley good of sunset actually materialize.I find it quite astouninding at the monies being offered on a regular night of racing, let alone an invitational for the 09 season. Will this affect the car counts at barrie in 09 ????????. If i was a fellow track owner in the southern ontario region,my finger nails would be bit quite low just thinking of what might be in the cards for the upcoming race season. Judging by the good turnout of drivers from other tracks at the barrie meeting, hopefully at least some of these drivers decide to make barrie their home in 09. Hopefully one of these drivers is named the stomper [ as Dave Volkey refers to him ] as he will definately be sure to draw the race fan.
What are the purses , cant find them anywhere.
+ 100 000 to everything you had to say about The Stomper!!!! Both about him returning to Barrie, and ability to put butts in the seats. I would hazard a guess you'd be lookin at 500-600 fans on the good weather nights are added when word gets around where Walters is racing. His fan base are numerous and very loyal ones!!!LOL ( Both that love to cheer for him or against him) I will stick to my guns and say we see 21-22 LLM opening night at Barrie. But you are also right about the Sunset payouts looking very fruitful if they do indeed materialize, especially for the LLM 100s which I believe pay 2000 to win I'm hearing??? Heck thats what OSCAAR pays to win some races!!LOL What I think you might see is some drivers starting at Barrie running points, and then depending where they might be sitting come the time of these Sunset special races they could possibily try Sunset on those nights. I was lookin at last season and we had 15 Sat race nights and 7 rainouts, that's basically 33.3 percent of lost potential revenue for new owners right off the get go, and the addition of Walters ( if true) would only added to potential revenue for this coming season. Essentially what Wes is doing is creating his own version of the Simcoe County Shootout by holding these big paying invitational races, which acually is pretty smart business. I only hope Barrie does the same and have one big $$ LLM special (as well as maintaining the year end Thunder Car race) to follow suit.
Stomper adding an extra 600 fans are you kidding me that certainly didn't happen last year just ask Wes, what about your car count it's a known fact the car count decreases when Tom is racing. Your math is like the 10,000 fans for the Canadian Tire race a few years ago very creative to say the least.
I would venture to say that on the extra fans in the stands where walters races is probably close to what blackflagagain states, regardless of what anyone says. On the point of car counts declining at tracks that he races at,i have to disagree with that as any driver that is competetive will tell you, they wanta race against walters just for that chance to beat him, just ask jason witty,i'm sure he'd certainly want another go at walters.
