i hear you on that one. It makes sense getting the best bang for your buck. heck if I were a fan and not a driver I would do the same thing. But being a driver there are too many variables. lol.
With the new pitboss being a racer,i guess the calls come from the owners!! 😮
I would think the owners have the last say with the weather. ???
i'm not sure what time they called it, but remember that there are people coming to the track from far away, some of you have a 20 min drive, i personally have an almost 2 hour drive, i would be bitter if i drove all the way down there if they knew it was going to rain just to waste a crap load of money in gas..
I have to ask the question; why does the current management of Barrie Speedway insist on shooting themselves in the proverbial foot with these too quick rainout calls? Do they figure it's less costly this way; prematurely cancel the evenings' schedule based on...what exactly? The website says "...impending weather...". When that notice was posted much earlier today the nearest precip was south of Hwy 7 and of no threat, impending or otherwise, to get anywhere near the speedway either then or by race time. In fact, the weather far to our south appears to be dissipating as the afternoon goes on. The info is readily available to anyone at Environment Canada's radar page with only a 10 min delay from real time.
Considering this is the May 2-4 weekend this call is even more dubious. If they are afraid the tourists won't come for fear of rain and therefore the gate takes a hit they are just wrong. Now the tourists will turn down the 8th Line only to find locked gates on a long weekend Saturday night and wonder "what's up" in view of the fact the evening weather is quite nice. I recall that last season they followed much the same pattern of calling rainouts far too early based on who knows what. A cynic could wonder if there is some design to this approach. Disappointing, whatever the case.
