Barrie 97p.s when the ballifs show up at your door make sure you show them those pictures of all those warm and fuzzy family outings. Truth is that only Joe Chance has read my statement with an open mind instead of getting all defensive about the truth. Truth is most (not all racers)are broke dicks and the reason is they will lie to themselves there family and others (sponsors) to get to that track. l don't know of any local track guys that made money racin, some can afford to pi$$ it away most others can't even afford a hot dog at fall colors. So we'll see ya'll sneakin over the fence at Peterborough (again).

bailiffs? Okay................

Fact is, racing costs alot of money.  Doesn't matter what series, etc...it costs more money the higher you go. I know this for a fact.  I've raced, and do race (I don't drive...I'm on a crew) in the highest series in Canada.  There's no argument about the cost...and I've never seen a team owner questioned about how he spent the dough...no idea why this conversation went where it is now, but for christ sakes lads...we're all just racers!

Actually Terry tried to point out to many of us that we were "idiots". That is where I got defensive, and rightly so. If you live the perfect life and have no issues relating to money, you know what that's great. But if you are like 75% of Canadians just working, and living, then join our club. I'm not saying that some people have problems financing their racing, I'm sure there are some that do, I would love to have the latest and greatest parts on my rig too, but chances are it isn't going to happen. There are average Canadians who live outside their budget, and outside their means and cannot pay their bills, and they have nothing to do with racing. For you to tar us all with the same brush is totally ridiculous.

All I can say is this, I have equipment that is paid for, I do as much as I can do with the money I have, I don't have a bill at the speed shop because I pay cash and the guys down there smile when they see me come in. Do I make sacrifices in my life to race, sure, but I wouldn't have it any other way. And those sacrifices are things that I might have done differently, not going totally without something that is necessary to my life. People go on about the driver who had $83 and a 13" TV when he died. Was that man happy with his life? Maybe not, but maybe he was, and that is the point. If he wasn't satisfied at the end of the day, then I feel sorry for him, if he was satisfied with his life then rest in peace, and may you find the checkers on the other side. I think the point is that I am making and no one is paying any attention to is are you happy with your life? There are many people who are not happy with a race team and no money, and there are many people with thousands in the bank, a 3500 sq ft house on a postage stamp of a lot and a Jag in the driveway who likewise are not happy, believe me I know some rich people who are not happy. If you think you're better than me then I feel sorry for you, because it shows you have issues of your own related to wealth...

You know, I guess it all boils down to one thing. Unless your walking around feeding off the public trough, you have a right to be an idiot. And if that's what make you happy, more power to ya. At that point , the only ones that have a problem with you are usually those that are unhappy and..jealous.
