couldn't agree more!
I believe it has been proven that any endeavour that creates adrenalin in the human brain has the potential to become an obssesion in a person with an addictive personality. For some it is intoxicants ,sex , food , and for some it is participating in a competitive event .
I know of some guys who have sacrificed their marriages , homes , everything they owned to the point of bankruptcy to see a checkered flag in their windshield. That my friends is not an idiot , that is an addict .
Money clearly means a lot to you. So there you have it, you have your priority of material wealth. I have the priority of racing. I'm still alive today, I haven't ever been to the food bank, I have a decent job that i'm good at, and I can cover the costs of living for today, and for a while, until I get paid again for the work that I do. If you have had success in your life Terry I think that's great.
But think about this, you go and pay your $14 to watch me drive my race car. Sure you're having fun, but think of how much fun I'm having...
Those 3 races every Saturday makes all of it worth it.
And if you've got all of this money, why don't you put some of it up to help support some "starving" race team. I'm just glad to have real friends at the track who help me out. Which is something that many people in the "real world" don't understand...
I understand the point Mr Truth is making even if it is lost on many of you . Any you remember a certain famous Canadian race car driver that passed away a few years ago sitting in a one room apartment watching a 13" TV with about 83 dollars in his bank account ? How about a certain well known race car builder that had his electricity turned off 2 or 3 times last year because he didn't have the money to pay the bill ?
I think Mr Truth is saying if your wife and kids are going to have to eat Mac and Cheese all next week so you can get those new Hoosiers for the Fall Colours you may have your priorities mixed up . Even worse would be to turn 60 yrs old and go to the bank to inquire how your RRSPs are doing and the teller say to you . " you have 47 dollars Mr Saturday Night "
