check out the new  super stock thunder  bodies they are roughly 130 lbs  total weight  with out the windows  then can go  on any thing   up to a 118" wheel base  car so it will fit on the  longer wheel base cars and is based on a 51and 3/8  roof height
packages come with  plastic nose and tail covers, composite hood, roof, cowl, deck filler and optional wheel base quarters with flares, aluminum doors, rockers and deck lid .
as for the price it really is any more then  what some people  pay for your five star  replacement panels for  the old monte carlo or what some guys are paying to put a new generation  body on their car.
sauble rules for new style body
Fiberglass bodies must install 50 lbs with no portion of the weight less than 18” from the ground, at ride height. The Speedway reserves the right to add or subtract weight to ensure competitive racing

Let me know where those '88 fenders are for $40.00, I'd buy them all. Must actually you know...*resemble* a 88 Monte Carlo, Grand Prix fender, quarter panel, lower rocker panel, door sill, door skin, A Pillar, B pillar.....

Using flat tin is a cheaper way to go, but you might as well replicate a Super Late Model then....

And then ask any race car owner, just how much time they have to beat up a piece of metal, shape it, maybe have to stitch weld it back into form or place, let alone rivet in a week's time when the kids are screaming, wife is wondering if she's going to wind up a racing widow....

I'd be happy to sell you brand new replica steel fenders (Monte Carlo, Mustang, etc) but you're gonna pay $150.00 + for them. I think the whole point is that you simply can't find them in a wrecker anymore without spending a fortune in time, money and gas calling every wrecking yard in Ontario.

And I already posted - a team doesn't have to spend 2 grand...used fiberglass bodies are around - for as low as six - to seven hundreds bucks.  I know for a fact they are around....

And  yeah....... I think we're now beyond the point of 'basics' ... not many race car owners want or even desire to spend 20 + hours / week maintaining a race car, let alone learning or keeping up with steel body panel repairs....

Guys and gals want to spend 5 hours a week - if that! Racing is no longer a way of life (better come to grips with that fact..) - this is not the deep south and nor is it a world where racing is the only hobby or recreational activity people "must have" or do every weekend let alone weekday evenings. The die hard racers are a dying breed.

EXACTLY! That was really my entire point, TIME. Time to look, time to call, time to pick up. Then the time to repair and modify all those parts.

Allowing the aftermarket bodies is more for convenience not performance. Nor will any racer be forced to make the switch. Do it if you want.
I would be happy to run a fibreglass or composite body as long as it looked like a "stock car" not like a LM that all look the same.

Those bodies from Ultimate look great too.

LOL ........The old put it back rule is probably the most neglected shop rule. Time is money, a sloppy shop clean up can do wonders in making for time, and save the expense of buying another of what you already got .
