If you look at the schedule it is 50 lap Championship races for the LM, Thunders, 4 Cyl. and 30 laps for the Chargers. In addition there are Ontario Legends and Jr. trucks. No mention of any Invitational. When I spoke with Brad earlier in the year he said there were no plans for invitationals this year.
actually as i recall there was almost 40 4 cylinders at the barrie finale last year cause more then a dozen cars did not qualify for the "A" Main.only 26 cars were allowed to start the feature. As for the fans. Yeah i see your poin marcisfan, but it still looks bad that sunset wants to turn away other cars for an invitational. Whether it be the drivers or the management it is poor sportmanship on behalf of any track to do so.
I stand corrected, you are right there were a signficant number of 4 cylinders at the finale last year.
I think the reasoning behind the no invitationals this year is due to the fact that drivers that race on the Barrie track need to be licensed by Nascar to do so seeing as it is a Nascar sanctioned speedway now. Although I did like the invitationals I see where they are coming from because if somebody were to get hurt on the track without a Nascar license there could be some serious reprecutions for allowing things like that to happen.
you know how everyone was saying that barrie is better or sunset is better because of car counts and whatever else. Well i checked sunset website and 107 cars ran on july 28th, but 67 of them were combined 4 cylinder cars which leaves only 40 between the thundercars and the late models. that's about the same as Barrie. Only difference is we have about 40 4 cylinders in total on any given night. so the difference is 27 fewer 4 cylinders at Barrie. That is a bad arguement to use to try to say one track is better then another track.lol....i like both tracks but i prefer Barrie so i am not taking sides and i never have but i just thought i'd check it out for myself and let everybody know why the Sunset car count is higher then that of Barrie
The Sunset thunder cars have been coming to Barrie for a few years now & walking all over the Barrie cars. Rob Poole, Doug Harvey, Tyler Liscum all would lay a beating on us because of the Hoosier tires vs the Diamond backs. Even with there advantage we looked forward to the Thunder Invitationals because we all loved to race, they were great guys to race against & loved the high car count. Now we finally have a tire that can compete & showcase how good some of the Barrie cars are & they ban us after one race! I know we were looking forward to this Thursdays race & are very disappointed. From what I saw the last Thursday invitational it seemed the Barrie cars were just setup better, every Sunset car just came out of the corners sideways & seemed out of control. Also there top guys Carlisle & Fumerton were not racing. I understand the pressure Glen was under, some of the drivers were threatening to leave last Thursday before the feature. But I think they made a mistake, see ya at Autumn Colours boys.
