Some quick results seeing as the usual crowd must be still sleeping.
1st LM feature: McLeod, Baker, Lewis
2nd LM feature: McWhirter, Lewis, A. Inglis, Malcolm, McLeod, Baker
Thunder feature: Holden, St. Onge, Davey
Pure Stocks: D. Burrows, Watson
Charger: Drew Stieler (I think, didn't see the end but he was well in front). Good job Tia Dale on her return from her injury.
Yup...a great night of racing indeed. Our very own Thunder6 made his debut as well. First time ever on the track! It was a packed house as usual and the fans were greated with some AWESOME racing...There were 19 LLM, unfortunately only 17 made the start for the second one.
In the first LLM feature Keith McLeod had the car to beat, again. McWhirter was up front for a good chunk of time in this race, but once the faster cars of McLeod and Baker got to him, it was nto long before they got opn the outside of him and got bye. McLeod and Baker were nose to tail all night, probably because baker knows that he has to finish right with McLeod to keep his substantial points lead in tact. I was not able to watch alot of this race as my car had trouble all night, but i did catch the last lil bit!
I cannot coment on the chargers cause i didnt see them go (car trouble).....but i know Khane Freak got 5th and Subyman got 6th....good runs for those two!
In the Pure stock feature, there was some great action...it all started on lap 3 when Burtoo, a charger driver, came into the corner far too hot and put the 45 of Derek Sererus hard into the wall...initial report from Derek was that the car might be a junker now...The scirocco is a unibody car and she got banged up pretty bad on the front. The race would resume with Watson out front folowed by the 18 of Steeve Slaughter and the 63X of Dave Burrows. Dave Galze was not far behind, restarting 5th. The race would go green the rest of the way to the end. Watson's car seemed to really loosen up and when he put the hammer down off of twohe got sideways, slowing up Slaughter....that allowed Burrows to sneak bye on the inside to claim second. The battle was then on from there as the two would check out on everyone else. With 4 to go Watsn again got loose of of two and this time Burrows would again take advantage and sneak underneath him. dave would then go on to claim the feature win by two car lengths....after the race Burrows said that there was no way he was getting around brandon if he idnt get loose....
In the Thunder Car feature there was new blood out front for once....as the 97 of Brad Holden would take the early lead. Holdens car was hooked up on thsi night and with St. Onge, Doucette and Davey all starting towards the rear he had a chance to check out. This race went off caution free and as a result the lead that Holden had made early stood up as he won by about 10 cars...St. Onge got into second with about 6 to go and REALLY ate into the lead, but too little too late for the yellow 00. Back in the pack, Kyle Baker again would ahve problems...unfortunate for the kid! There was some good racing between the three poins leaderrs early on as it appeared to me that Doucette had the car to beat on the night, but without a caution to close the field up, there was no win in the future for Doucette....But this was a good race....and Kudos to Luke Gignac, who is starting to find the handle on his car!
In the final 40 lapper for the full throttle late models it would be an awesome race. All of the contenders for this years title would find themselves up near the front within ten laps, but a driving error by either McLeod or Inglis as they would come together at the start-finish line and that would cause McLeod, Baker and Garry Reynolds to go spinning, this is all on the front stretch, not even into the corner...unfortunately that would end the night for Reynolds and Baker and McLeod would go to the back and with the double file restart rule now in effect, there would not eb enough time for the two of them to charge back to the front...McLeod would make it to 5th, and even that would be a good result after seeing how hard he had to drive to come through the field. The show would go on at the fornt however, with McWhirter and Lewis stretching their lead out on the field. Thsi thing would become a two horse race as Lewis seemed to be better through the corner, but Mcwhirter seemed to ave more motor down the straight away. They would cross the line nose to tail. I don;t think Lewis coulda passed him no matter how many lapsthey would ahve gotten, the cars were too evenly matched....Lewis woulda needed a msitake to win it...he wanted it bad tho as it was Rama Moccasin and Smoke Night!
All in all a great night of raicng at the greatest show on assphalt. I can;t wait to go and see some DIRT action this week....i will post a complete ransomville summer nationals reults Tuesday ngiht when i get back to the hotel...unlessplans change i will be in attendance thursday ngiht in NY! WOOT! lol...Kevin Reynolds and Scott Beatty I believe were not able to take the green for the second 40, last night.
Have a great rest of your weekend!
Thanks for the mention Thayne. I had a great time out there, and look forward to getting out there again soon. Thanks for taking the time to offer some pointers on the track and talk to me about some things, I know you were having mechanical gremlins all night and probably could have been busy doing something else. An excellent report as usual. Also thanks to Dave and Steeve Melson and all the other drivers (Charger, P/S and Thunder) who came and spoke to me and offered advice, see you all next week!
