actually the motor tested against the crate engine on the dyno was steve pennys hosking engine, which was two years old at the time. i would love to see the actual spec sheets from the dyno test, because i don't believe it.
I think the point of the Next Generation Thunder Car is that eventually everyone is supposed to be driving them then I think that it would be mandatory to run a crate engine and yes the crates are reliable I think most that have had an issue were overheated badly. Thunder6 what happened to your first motor?
The only reason more new gens are being built is because they are allowing a horse power motor. In a way it is unfortunate because now its getting to the point, if you want to travel to other tracks, you better have an old body to put on the car or forget about invatationals. I know if the 2 car gos to Varney again he'll have to run with the limiteds. Ed loves running their but why go beat your head off the wall.
There is an upside to that taj2, last place in LM pays more than first place in Thunders lol. At that track he may do alright in LM to. Plus if they are going to make ya run LM run the LM tires when your there.
Hey Tooner, the first engine blew because the pickup tube for the oil pump was not welded in place and pulled out of the oil pump. Voila... Boom. An expensive lesson, but a lesson nonetheless...
We have an engine or two in the works for next spring. I'm confident the new engines are going to be awesome. We learned a lot in the past couple months and people around the speedway have been very helpful, I hope we can make some great things happen next year. Maybe you will see some things you didn't expect either, like a face seen often around my pit, driving his own car, who knows!
