Longstreet,
Great idea, go build your own field of dreams. Not sure how many racers will show up in this day and age, but good luck and advertise it really well, let all your friends and racers know. You'll probably have more complaints than fans from them pesky community leaders, farmers yelllin about the noise, but only for a little bit since you'll probably be the only car running around those bales of hay, not to mention the dirt tracks already have a cornered market on field of dreams racing and they DO put on a really good show. And you got friends in the city / regional planning department right? A few bribes I'm sure can fix the problem, just make your own moonshine and you'll even make some money to pay for a few things you'll need!
You'll be able to brag that you built your own race track, assuming you have a spare 10 to 20 acres that are perfectly flat or I'm sure you have plan B... you know... in case it has a few hills and a couple of rocks in the way. And have about 2,000 yards of clay lying about, a few graders (just steal one from your local city snow removal department), front end loaders, a scraper and a few hundred thousand gallons of water in tanker truck (geez, the city or town have a serious theft problem....). But i'm pretty sure you probably have a few friends with dump trucks and you plan to run during the day since lights cost too much money to put in and you have EMT's that can volunteer time (or your Mom if it's just you) along with the insurance (unless you plan use your own car insurance and just say it was an accident into a ditch along the highway) and of course, you're not going to have a farm field with a race track without hotdogs and hamburgers so I'm sure you have some spare Thunder cars set up as cow catchers or just plan to just have a few wrecks and hit the odd neighbor cow and fire up some fresh hamburgers and beef hot dogs! If nobody shows up, I'm sure you can find a few kids and PAY them to go chase the cows on those slick new ATV's that already race around farmers fields. You know what.... this could be a cheap deal to build! Just a couple hundred grand or a lot of stuff on 'loan' .. oh and by the way, the goin rate for a bale of small bales is $3.50 each. You'll only need a few hundred...
Are you gonna start building it this week? The snow is melting fast!
Doug
