Wes, how would changing the points system to the chase affect anything as far as out of town cars messing things up?  Those who would complain about that, are already doing it about out of towners now.

Real racers and champions dont complain about this guy and that guy.  They just race em all.

it wouldn't change much. if you have say 5 or 10 guys in the chase. the guys outside the championship hunt would have the same affect if any on the championship hunt as those guys who are just visiting cars.

....................Besides, at a certain point in the season usually, you know who is gonna win unless they have a major meltdown, and sombody else goes on a tear ( which wont happen, becouse there is a reason the guy if first has a full night lead ) winning races.  Also the guy in like 3rd or 4th on back usually is out of the points with 5 or 6 races left, if not more.

Look at the points now, Leonard is in 5th, he has been for some time, and most people after a certain point would say he was done.  Bring in 5 night left, a month...............BOOM, Len is tied for the lead, less the amout of points for a feature win!!  All of a sudden Len is up on the wheel a little harder and the racing is haywire!  The same could be said for 2nd to 4th right now, lets be honest, Belesky can take a vacation for a week and still come back the points leader unless DenHollander wins the feature, and we know both of those things arent gonna happen.

If this were the chase id say its still up for grabs, but at this point I think pass along the crown, becouse the Prince is soon to be King.

And the 4 bangers is a gross foregone conclusion ::)

Just remember that Nascar Nextel is a touring series. They don't deal with nearly as much rain as we do. I don't disagree that the chase cup idea would be a nice and new idea BUT as said before I'd hate to see someone win a championship with only racing 2 out of the last 5 races.

A lot of Barrie drivers should remember the horrible years we've had where we'd have amazing weekdays then when the weekend hits it would rain constantly. I remember a few years ago where we had more rain out then actual race days. Even as it stands right now we may even have rain this weekend (which is also in the last 5 weeks) With a chance of rain moving around next Thursday and Friday that could always move to Saturday.

On another note Nextel run 36 races where Barrie runs only 19 races with at least 3-4 races being rained out a year.

and Charlie should we go back to heats not counting for points this year, that has a BIG impact on how the points standing are right now.

somebody should take the time and figure in heat points that could have been awarded this year and see how the points would have worked out. see if theres any real difference in awarding them or not.

Yeah honestly not a big fan of the chase format charlie, but something can still be done to make it interesting. Alterego is right about possible rain and the fact we run less nights to begin with. A championship i my opinion is won from a full seasons racing an not just a handful of races. I hate how the Sprint Cup series does it. Should be points all year long. I do know we can make it interesting even without the chase format. Maybe we could scrap our worst 2 or 3 nights finishes next year and use the other nights for points. some guys have sheer bad luck that's out of their control that ruins their bid at a title. Just throwing that option into the mix as well.

I'm also not a huge fan of having sub drivers who come in and accumulate points for the regular driver. makes no sense. A driver should accumulae his own points. Even sprint cup drivers must at least start their race to get points. any way of looking at this and making a change. Maybe limit it to 1 night only and must have a valid reason such as injury or funeral or baby on the way. something valid. Not to bash anybody because their was a time earlier in the year that Ray Shephard attended a race with his car and was in great spirits and health. Rick Walt didn't have his car there or something happened in practice, can't really remember, but Rick got into Ray's car for the night and got Ray points. Both drivers involved are great guys, just couldn't comprehend why a driver who was well enough to race didn't race his own car that night. just didn't sit right with me. So having a valid reason should be a rule for next year if there's any sub drivers allowed.
