IMNSHO gibbons should give him two or three nudges to say i am here, if that does not work after two laps then it is time to deposit the offending car in the infield.

I think it was Ted Christopher who had the 3-tap system, with the first letting them know you're there, the second to tell them to choose a lane and the third tap to choose a lane for them...
