i don't know much about those crate motors or any motors really but i heard someone saying something like you can turn those crate motors upside down and knock out some frost plug or some plug or cover off or out and pull the cam out of them or something like that without it being detected.
is this somewhere near right? maybe it's not a frost plug but is this just a racing urban myth or what?
anybody know?
ok i asked who i heard this from and here's what i was told....
take valve covers off
rockers and pushrods out
lifter locks out
timing cover off (hammer and chisel to start the break off bolt because engine's new it's easy to do?)
turn engine over, let the lifters fall out
pull cam out
replace break off bolt- timing cover
ok does this make more sense or is there something else that wouldn't allow you to do this?
myth or what?
truth. what some tracks are doing is two sealed bolts or a 6300 rev limiter like asa late models run would halt this. in some series if you get caught you lose your engine heavy fine and one year ban for the first time, lifetime for second offense.
back off rockers, remove rear cam plug pull out camshaft , cut hole in front cover, replace with piece from a second cover. seen act engine done this way.couldnt see cut lines with waterpump on.
If you take the timing cover off you could change a camshaft
If you don't you can't

if you let the lifters fall out how would you get them back in? the intake is sealed
