they ar

I don't think there is any place in this class for take-apart shocks. How do $1000 shocks improve racing over all compared to $55 a piece Pro SS shocks?

they 125 per and most of us can rebuild them ourselves....and even guys like Kevin Reynolds do them for 50/shock..so it isn't really bad....i think it's fun and interesting to try new shock combinations...

we had absolutely no problem handling and were probably the quickest Thunder at Barrie in the corners just didn't have the motor. Anyways my point is that car ran 2 1/2 seasons on the same springs and shocks only changed one shock cause it went for a crap on us in a heat race (which I won anyways.lol) I guess what I am getting at is why spend oodles of money trying to figure things out. Have somebody do some testing out at the track with the cars and whatever works best as far as handling versus cost then make them a spec shock and a spec spring. That way nobody can try to get an edge spending money that some others can't afford just trying to get further ahead. I would love a division that was 100% equal motor/ suspension / chassis. Then it would be about the drivers. Sort of like IROC but Thundercar style.

add motor and then see what happens to handling...its a double edged sword....

this isn't IROQ....if you want a spec class...go run a midget or pro challenge car...same amount of money, spec everything.

When we race snowmobiles we had a stock class and an open mod class...ask my brother what was more fun to race and build....the mod.

I too would love to mess around with good shocks as that's my kind of thing and would like another place to out WORK my competition. But my point is there's no place at this level for this sort of extra cost, if and when I want to get into that sort of techology I'll move back up to a class that it's more appropriate in.

I stand corrected on the cost of the shocks, I was told by a racer from Barrie that he spent a grand on new shocks at the begining of the season and figured that was for 4. $125 isn't as bad but still more than Pro SS shocks.

800 for an exhaust is alot of money, but don't jump down his throat for it! exhaust can make or break any engine performance and if a guy can't weld for instance, then you pay a guy to do it. so what you are saying is that guys who go to engine builders are morons for not knowing how to build an engine or having the machinery to do the machining involved. tranny builders, drive shaft builders, chassis builders. i can weld and do exhaust but the rest is what specialty guys are for, not because i'm stupid or lazy. i just leave the jobs for the appropriate people and pay i do! christ i can't even flare a brake line, does that make me less of a racer? i get what you're saying thayne and i know your whole family is talented mechanics or automotively schooled in other areas, sometimes you just let the pros do their magic!
