WOW, I must admit I agree with most of what Marty as well as Dave said. There certainly where a few calls missed last night, but I must admit, I missed them as well trying to watch. It is hard to see all corner of the track at the same time, and it seems like you just turn your head and something else is happening. I figured the 9 / 10 thing happened, but wasn't sure, and I am guessing the 38 came back down into the 2 car after the fact, after the 2 charged in and spun him earlier. Unfortunately, these things do happen, and you can only hope that they do get caught, but it doesn't always happen. Sorry Marty that you got involved in whatever happened on the back stretch. You've had such a great run the past few weeks, and I know you will again. Hoping you reconsider and don't leave BSW as you a great runner / classy guy and would certainly be missed. Definitely be a loss to BSW if you went somewhere else to run. AS for the thunders missing next week, there was a mix up early in the year in the scheduling. I have a schedule from the Mall show saying they are running, but the revised schedule that came out as the season started showed them having the night off, as well as the website schedule, so I guess it just depends which schedule you had, if you knew they were running or not. I would rather have seen the OSS just run one feature and have the Thunders, but I don't run the track. If Two Tyme was the sponsor Marty was speaking about, I am hoping they will hang in to finish the year. They've given so much to the track during the growth of it over the past years, and this year has definitely been like stepping back in time ( Some nights way back) but there are still lots of nights left to turn this year around, and hopefully everyone will get their shit together and work towards towards that.
In my opinion there are a few things that make a track successful:
1. FIRST AND FORMEOST good close and competetive racing.
2.The understanding that drivers make the racetrack...without them no racing and without owners no racing...there needs to be a mutual respect and there is none at BSW.
3.Advertising (The new owners ahve this well covered)
4. no on-track delays...meaning fast cleanup, lineup, leading to an early finish.
5. Official-driver interaction...there must be professionalism, but listening to drivers and not having a smug attitude is a must
thats all i got...maybe others will have more....
I haven't been out to a track yet this season but after reading the constant complaining about how BSW is being managed I don't miss it either. From the posts here since the season started regarding BSW and Sunset both, it reminds me of what it was like the two seasons BSW ran under the Cascar sanctioning also known as the Blight years. I think the last cheque I got back then is still bouncing somewhere. ;D Shame really as I have great friends who still compete at BSW but I doubt I will see them run anytime this year, except the censored venison on Rogers cable on Wed;s. I do plan to take in the Canadian Dirt Nationals later this year if I can. Also , a big weekend coming up at Humberstone this Aug 1 st long weekend . I hope BSW will survive but I can read between the lines that the promises of the new owners are falling short .
dont forget WoO mon-wed. i may be headed down there wednesday...
I would love to get to the WoO but have to work . Honda will come to an abrupt end if I take 2 nights off lol. Night shift sux.
