That is crazy that Justme mentioned Terry Barr's name on here, that is Gord Shepherd's uncle. Gord changed his number a few years back from 24 to 10 because that was his uncle's number, he actually found an old race car of his back in the bush behind his house with the number 10 on it. As for the teching, I think what is keeping the top 3 in thunder from getting torn down more is they are having a tight points battle. When Gord won the championship a few years ago he won 9 features that year, but only won the championship by a few points. Why? Because they DQ'd him twice, once for his fuel tank being an inch too low & once for a balanced crank. He was running away with the points & the track wanted a close points battle. The week after they DQ'd him for the low fuel tank they pulled the whole field into pit lane before the feature & checked the height of there fuel tanks. Half the field was too low but we were the only ones to get DQ'd. They torn Gord down almost every week & put him threw hell, that's why he went to Alstar the next year.
Apart from being a fan of the biggest cry baby ever to disgrace Nascar 8 Dale Junior you are dumber than Tom Milligan's old left racing boot,my dad raced at Barrie and was treated like a dog after winning several championships.
Sue did your dad ever win a late model championship ?
I think that speedwaysue is Tammy Milligan and is trying to throw people off the scent
The reason I mentioned Tery Barr was when I was 9 yrs back when you could get a ride in a race car for a lap, He was the first racecar I ever got a ride in, I believe it was an old chevy II yellow #10 I was so short for my age that I actually could stand straight up inside the car, and somewhere I used to have a pic of me in his car, beacause of that back then Terry was one of my first favorite drivers, and I do recall when he left us and why and how it happend, I was very sad day..
Barrie's multiple champions:
Don Wardle 1968, 1971, 1972, 1977, 1978
Simon Stolte 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990 (all in Sportsman as the top class)
Garry Reynolds 1974 (6 cyl tie with Walters), 1983, 1985, 1991, 1993
Don Hawn 1981, 1982, 1999, 2001
Brian Malcolm 1982, 1984, 1985, 1994 (all in Sportsman but they were top class in 1984 & 1985)
Tom Walters 1974 (6 cyl tie with Reynolds), 2005, 2006
Ian Bourque 1990, 1992, 1993 (Challeger and Sportsman)
Al Reed 1980, 1981, 1982 (6 Cyl)
Frank Davey 2001, 2005, 2006 (Thunder Car)
Garf Peacock 1966, 1976 (mini), 1978 (mini)
Glenn Watson 2000, 2002
FYI, I'm still missing records from 1995 other than Dave Lewis, 1996 and complete results from 1997 (have Al Inglis in LM and Morow in Challenger).
Of the above, I believe that Walters has a daughter who's been a poster in the past on the predecessor board. Garry Reynolds is still at Barrie. Don Wardle's daughters are not around the tracks and I don't know about any other daughter candidates from the list.
Just to add to statsman, not multiples but champions as well
Ken Cole - 1979 6cyl steetstock
Bev Bye - 1971 8cyl ( Barrie Speedway & Sutton Speedway ) in the same year
Doug Duncan- 1973 6cyl Holligan, Barrie and Sunset Combined points, They raced Barrie sat, Sunset wed.
